I've just done a search for "Fat32"
In the TomTom section of the forum, I got 36 results (apart from this one)
2 Topics said re-formatting to FAT2 solved a problem
5 said that re-formatting to FAT16 solved a problem
3 said it should make no difference
5 said that TomTom use FAT16 on their own cards
2 said that TomTom use FAT32
2 said that Windows XP doesn't format SD cards correctly and that you need specialist software to do it.
and the rest either had no definite result of just mentioned it in passing.
So I reckon the Jury is still out! |

The earlier software versions seem happier with Fat16 (it might have just been then earlier units) but I've noticed that the newer units are coming out with FAT32. _________________ Richard

The only thing I noticed on my card is when you first connect it TT home likes to write a small file onto the card.Once I delete this file, then it writes the backup file onto new card without any problems. When I leave file there it just freezes.I have tried this on a couple of cards. |
