Yes - funny enough the One XL cannot use the flash and the SD card at the same time. It is not sufficient to install the maps to the SD card - you need to install the application too. And the voices etc. _________________ Lutz

So having said that would it be better to purchase the XL UK and purchase Europe seperatly?

KK | That depends on you.
Do you want to use it in Europe?
Can you afford extra £30 right now for the XL with Western Europe map?
If yes to both, buy the XL with Western Europe on it - buying the Western Europe map later will take the price over the top (until end July - special offer price is £54). _________________ Dennis

Yes I can afford the extra £30 and I will be driving a lot in France next year. As for the offer price at the moment I think the Europe would be the better buy. If the offer price at the moment is £54 what is it normaly. Thanks for your help.

KK | Discount is 20% off, so about £70. But what does it matter? - if you buy the XL Europe, it comes complete with that map. _________________ Dennis

I was also wondering how adding an extra SD card will work? My XL arrives tomorrow along with a seperate 2GB SD card i brought. Can i use the 2nd SD card? IE; Copy the contents of the SD card that comes with the XL onto the larger SD card? (because im assuming its not 2gb)
I've just subscribed for the camera database and am now reading the 27 steps . I hope i dont mess it up in the morning. |

Have a read through some of the FAQ's - you will find information about copying the card etc, if it is a Europe version that uses internal Flash memory you need to copy the contents of the XL to the PC before copying it to the new card - Mike |

FIRST JOB - BACKUP Copy everything from the ONE XL to a directory on your PC, using Windows Explorer (it says you can backup using Tom Tom Home, but do it with Windows Explorer anyway - set to show all files and extensions). PLEASE, PLEASE DO THIS BACKUP, before you do anything else at all. With a good backup, you can then play to your heart's content without fear of doing a jiggering up.
Lutz said earlier that you cannot use both the internal flash and the SD card at the same time, so in order to use the extra SD card, you need to copy everything to it - doing the backup above will give you the "everything" which you can then copy to the SD card.
Unless you already know what you are going to do with it, I'd leave the SD card alone until you get more "with it". _________________ Dennis
