|
|
Hi - I have recently purchased a new Western Europe map for my tomtom go 510. The file is too big for the standard ssd card so I purchased a 2gb card and thought that I could back up my old card, restore it to the new card and then update with download. However, the restore wont work onto the new card, it just hangs with the hourglass.
I tried a basic 'instal to' the new card and the tomtom programme instals but I get a message to say that there is insufficient space on my computer to unpack the map files I have placed the downloaded files onto a hard drive with 126gb spare capacity so I can't believe that!
Any ideas? |

Its best that you use Windows Explorer, and copy all files to your hard drive then copy them over to your new SD card _________________ TomTom Go 700,

Is it a 'branded' 2Gb card? There have been lots of fake 2Gb/4Gb devices offered for sale on places like e-bay over the last year or so.
Try formatting the card via PC and copying just under 2Gbs worth of files - pref multpile files (eg 18 * 100Mb) - and see if this works.
If it a branded device and it won't format / store to max capacity then I suggest you get a replacement from the supplier. _________________ Phil |

Thanks for the help. I eventually downloaded Home onto a spare PC that had an empty drive. The files unpacked sucessfully and installed. Two things seemed to have had an influence on this. Firstly, the initial download was interupted and it copied the map folder twice. The installation programme didn't recognise the file extension on the second one and aborted the programme. Secondly, my first computer had insufficient hard drive space to unpack the files |
