|
|
hi all,
Got TT6 runnning on E61i, everything running great, massive improvement on Palm T3 imho. However when I navigate to a postcode the keyboard wont enter digits, even though pressing the blue function key. Even tried creating a contact with a postcode and navigating to that but it didn't work and that functionality seems broken. I guess the people with E61s don't have the same issue or it would have come up. I'm having to navigate using a point on the map. Apart from this I delighted with the E61i + TT6 combination. |

I have an E61 and using the blue key works to get the numbers.
Occasionally it screws up and I have to switch the phone on and off.
Do you have the postcode files in the zip folder on the sd card?
You need Great_Britain.postal and Great BritainPostal.ver |

yes, have both those files. In fact I can input the alphabetic characters, or select a postcode from the list that pops up as soon as you start typing. My version is 6.020 (8300). Of course the digits on my E61i work when using the phone normally or in other apps. I guess it might be a problem with the E61i, as you have an E61. |

Just to confirm I am running version 6.02 (8300) and it is an E61 not E61i. Good luck. |

With the E61 you have to press the blue key and the digit key simultaneously with TomTom Navigator whereas with other applications you press the blue key then the digit key. |

yes, I tried that (pressing blue key and other key simultaneously). Funnily enough it does alter the character displayed, which made me go round the entire keyboard to get the 10 digits - no luck. Again my E61i keyboard works perfectly in other apps. Also when entering house numbers the digits work properly, so it is definitely a TomTom issue. Hopefully an E61i firmware or TomTom update will sort this out. The E61i isnt an officially supported phone so I will just have to put up with it for now. |

I have the same issue with my E61i.
The workaround is to think of the number keys as in a normal phone. For example, to insert number 3, you need to press the "Y" ("3") key four times quickly while keeping the blue key pressed. Just like you would do when you need to insert a digit using multi-tap on a normal mobile phone. Doing so, will get you "d" then "e" then "f" and then finally "3".
A bit inconvenient I know, but at least you can use it.
Another problem is inserting the letter "j". For that you will need to press the blue key and the "G" ("5") key simultaneously.
Hope this helps. |

Thats a lifesaver being able to input postcodes, wierd how it works though, I imagine TomTom will release a patch at some point. |

My e61 is on its last legs so thinking of getting an E61i.
Has the postcode issue ( I also read elsehere that typing in activation codes is an issue) been ressolved yet ?
Should I buy one?
Thanks |

I think it makes a good combination, you get used to the way of inputing postcodes. I used tomtom home to input the activation code, which was a bit of a hassle but worked in the end. I have the official Nokia car holder for the e61i and it works really well for me, much better than my previous palm t3 with tomtom. |
