I have a Tom Tom GO Classic with UK+IE plus major roads of WE maps, version v660.1219 and use application version 6.520.
Can any of the readers of this forum confirm if the traffic speeds shown bottom right of the display are actually used in the application's calculation of journey times.
I have noted quite a few inaccurate traffic speeds and submit them to Teleatlas. If the speeds are used in the journey calculation, hopefully with enough reports to Telatlas this function will at least gain in accuracy. Fortunately for most of my journeys (unless there are traffic incidents) the journey time is usually slightly overstated. |

As I understand it, the Route Calculation uses 'a duration time for this segment of road' to calculate it's journey time. It then adds them all together.
There are over a 100 pieces of data available for each segment of road. _________________ Richard

That's cleverer than I thought!
I'd assumed it just had a basic speed for 'A' roads, 'B' roads, Motorways etc. and just used those.
It would make a fascinating article if TomTom or one of the other manufacturers could be persuaded to tell us how things like this really work. |

It was up to the Navigation software which, and how many, of these they used.
I don't know if this still holds true, or if the segment times are a sub-category of these, or separate entities. _________________ Richard
