|
|
Hello
I am really hoping someone can help me - as I am pulling my hair out.
The story is:
I was with Virgin Mobile with a Sony Erricsson K800i - perfect traffic updates every time.
I have now moved to T-Mobile (on a Flext 25 tarrif) and cannot get my TomTom ONE to connect to my new phone - a Samsung U600.
I am connecting to general.t-mobile.uk - user:user, password:wap or web or one2one - none of these passwords give any different result. Bluetooth works fine - both devices find each other - but then the TomTom sits at 65%, has a few more goes at connecting to my phone, and then gives up.
I have contacted T-Mobile - they say it 'should be OK' - and to contact Samsung.
I have contacted Samsung - and they say they cannot guarantee GPRS connectivity with non-Samsung devices, and to contact TomTom.
TomTom say to contact T-Mobile, although it is not one of the phones 'supported' on their list.
The phone only 'came out' about a week ago, so I would expect this - but my gut says it should still work.
Does anyone have ANY ideas of what else I could try. |

Hi - thanks for this.
Pairing works absolutely fine - it is only the traffic that I cannot connect to. |

I think I will try the SIM card in the Sony phone, and see if I can connect then. At least that will rule out the phone. Pretty thick not to think of that before. Duh! |

Have a read through This Thread which explored various PAYG options and service providers, the conclusion was T-Mobile PAYG would work so you are right to assume it could be an issue with the phone, make sure you have full GPRS Internet access activated against your phone number though - Mike |

Thanks for this - you are right - I can connect on T-Mobile, as I have just transferred the SIM card to my Sony Ericsson (K750i - got it wrong before) and it is fine - connects straight away.
So it must be the Samsung - but I can't understand why. Any ideas? |

|

Hi,
I have been using TomTom on my PDA and made a bluetooth connection to my Sony Ericsson T610, for that to give me internet access via Virgin Mobile. With this, I was able to get the traffic information via the internet OK.
I have now got a TomTom One, Second edition and am having trouble getting the bluetooth connection to my mobile working.
It detects my phone OK, I selected the make and model from the list and after a while, it comes up and says I need to set up the connection manually and put in the relevant APN, username, password, auto IP address, auto DNS addresses (copied out of the WAP settings I have for my mobile phone, which work) Then I put "*99***2#" for the dial string (copied out of the dial string that my PDA uses when making a bluetooth internet connection - it's profile number 2, as profile number 1 is for my old SIM card) and took out the login script.
The get the usual stull on the phone, as if the PDA was getting onto the internet (it says says "connecting" and I get the globe symbol appear on display).
Meanwhile, TomTom One is saying "Checking wireless data connection settings..." and is at 65% for ages.
After a few minutes, TomTom then displays "Unable to set up your wireless connection. Do you want to change your settings?"
Does anyone have any ideas about this?
Also, is there anyone doing anything similar and of so, did you have to put the details in manually and if so, what were they and how did you get on?
Many thanks in advance.
Richard. |

Hi,
I've done some more playing and fixed it!
I put the login script in, but changed it to be correct for my phone and Virgin mobile, so it looks like this:
Code: | at+cgdcont=2,"ip","goto.virginmobile.uk","",0,0 |
After that, it got to 100% saying it was all OK.
Me's a happy bunny now
Richard. |

Hi everyone,
I have got the 65% problem as well when trying to set up a wireless data conection with TomTom XL and My Sony Ericsson W850i on 'Three' contract. Pairs perfectly but unable to establish a data connection. Ages at 65% then nothing. I have read all your posts but am pretty new to this so still none the wiser. Is there a phone and provider that definitely will work with no problems?
Any help much appriciated.
Many Thanks
Mark |

Mark, for a list of phones that work see Here your device is listed as one that will work with TomTom Plus services.
Your problem isn't the phone it is with your service provider, the 3 network does not allow true internet access, instead it walls off the net and only allows partial access (TomTom is outside their permitted zone) - if you want to stay with a PAYG service T-Mobile are one service that I know works - Mike |

Hi,
I'm on Virgin Mobile PAYG and can get full internet access, so get my traffic etc downloaded through them. |
