|
|
Guys, I've had a look here http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-map-versions.php but am still stuck, any advice is appreciated.
The UK map is working fine and has the UK speed cameras etc. too (directory name on the media card; GB_plus_major_roads_of_WE).
I'm going to Spain soon and so have copied the directory Iberia_Plus-Map to the root of the memory card but TomTom only sees the UK map when I go to Change Preferences - Manage Maps - Switch Map.
How do I get TomTom to 'see' the Spain (Iberia) map?
PS My TomTom is 6.010 (7720). I can't get the map version because it doesn't show in the 'about' screen...
Thanks. |

Don't you need to install the maps via TomTom Home on your PC? |

Where have you got the Spanish Map from? If it is at the same location as the UK Map (root of card) then such symptoms would suggest that one or more files in the map folder are damaged or missing. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks for the responses. I've got the original TTN disc along with the TomTom Bluetooth GPS receiver so the program is legit.
I'm not sure where the Spain map came from though. It might be from a previous TTN5 install... |

If it is from v5 then it won't be compatible with v6. _________________ Darren Griffin |

That might be the issue - the fact that I've got everything lumped together on a hard drive. I'll have a good look and see if I've got the Spain v6 map.
Thanks for your replies. |

I understood that older maps will work with newer software versions, but that older software versions will not read newer maps

I have 2 City maps that I puchased for Nav 5 and they don't show up now I've upgraded to Nav6. I'd be very pleased if anyone knows a method to make them work again.
One of them is for Las Palmas (Gran Canaria) and although promised back in January, a map for Gran Canaria doesn't seem to be around for Nav 6. Again if anyone knows where I can find the Gran Canaria map that was supposed to be with Western Europe map, I'd like to know. I've got nowhere asking TomTom about it.

I've got the Canary Islands map as part of TTN6 and Western Europe on DVD. Is this the one you mean? It's about 3.9mb in size. |

Can I use my 2005 maps with NAVIGATOR 6?
Answer
No, this is not possible.
Only new maps (version 6.6 or higher) can be used with NAVIGATOR 6.

Yes, I reckon that's exactly the one I've been asking TomTom about. I got my TTN6 6 maps by download and not from DVD. TomTom keep denying the existence of it and say it will come "soon" and Home will tell me about it as an update. It was supposed to be part of the package I purchased.
How do I get it out of TomTom?

I don't know how you can get them from TomTom. They obviously exist. I thought that the download version is one seamless map, so there's no option to add the ones you don't have.
I suppose sending you the copy I have would be against the rules? |

My map is Western_Europe 660.1223.
Somewhere in the TomTom info it says (or used to say) that the Canary Islands is supplied with Western Europe as a separate map (just under 4MB). I have emailed TomTom several times about it but they only say it will be available as an update some time soon. I don't think it's ever been an actual part of the Spanish map.
Having a copy emailed to me from someone won't work unfortunately as even if I'm entitled to it, I won't have an activation code. I need it from TomTom I think. If it exists on the DVD version, it ought to be possible to get it by download somehow.
