Just bought a new Mio Digiwalker P550, and have installed TTN6 version 6.020 with v675.1409 maps. The unit constantly crashes, freezes, loses GPS contact (with needs a soft reset to remedy), does anyone else have these problems with this combination?
I had the same configuration on my HP5450 which worked a treat until the screen kept wandering out of alignment (5 years old, so I can't complain)
And yes I know, I need to update my signature _________________ Mio P550 Mio 3 TTN 6 2GB SD Card, Ipaq 5450: Integral 1Gb SD card, TTN 6, POICapture, PPC 2003 |

Hi,
I've just bought the same setup as you. Problem is I'm having a problem installing TTN6. I've connected the PDA via USB to my laptop (XP sp2). Installed ActiveSync and ran the setup from the DVD. It's now stuck on the screen where it says it will install TomTom HOME. But when I click Next it does not do anything. Should it be doing something now? Did yours install OK?
Thanks |

It did. Thanks.
Parky,
Sorry for high jacking your thread. I've only just bought my set-up and will let you know if I have any problems like yours.
Cheers |

Hi FireWood
I would be interested in finding out your thoughts and findings on your set up. _________________ Mio P550 Mio 3 TTN 6 2GB SD Card, Ipaq 5450: Integral 1Gb SD card, TTN 6, POICapture, PPC 2003 |

Will do. I Only got it yesterday and finished installing everything yesterday afternoon in time for my journey home.
FYI, I have..
P550
TTN6 - UK and Western Europe on DVD
2GB miniSD card (UK and France maps loaded)
PocketGPSworld Camera database (zoned speed cameras) and ogg voices
Although I've only been playing with it so far (and tried out the satnav on the way home ~ 1.5 hours due to traffic ) it's been working fine. Just been setting up my favourites in France for our holiday trip later this month.
I'll let you know if I have any problems in the next week or two.
Cheers |

Might be better to save your favorites as POIs.
I took my SD card out (to put another one in) and when I put the TT card back in it had lost all the favorites
In manage POIs, just create a POI category called "Favorites" or something.
Then add a POI (or lots of them) to that POI category.
Last thing you'll want to happen is to lose them.
Also if you look in the TT map folder on the SD card it has all the .ov2 files, and corresponding .bmp files. These are the POI files and you can just copy them to your home PC as a backup. |

Well, it was going fine until this afternoon. It was calculating an itinerary I'd set up for France when TT6 showed an error. Nothing seemed to respond so I closed the programs using the memory/running programs option. When I tried to re-start TT6, it said there were no maps. The SD card is not showing up, so it looks like this is .
I hope it's just a case of getting a new card and seeing it I can re-load the maps. I hope that's all it is. I don't think this is a problem with the PDA itself. |

Have you got a Card Reader on your main PC, if so see if all the files are on it.
Or, just take the card out, do a soft reset, and reinstert the card. |

Give this a try first, my HP5450 used to do this, and taking the card out and re-inseting did the trick.

Well, after much pushing in and out, re-setting and trying in my card reader at home (which initllay showed 0mb free) it suddley decided to work again. I think this is a prompt for me to back it up onto another card in case I have problem on my holiday. |

Well, I just tried backing it up via TomTom home but it's giving an error..
An error occurred while reading this file \Storage Card\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player\WMDRM\C4D36...(lots of letters/numbers)..F70.hds
It does not go any further. I can find this file on the device and have copied it to my PC. Am I safe to delete it and try the backup again? Anyone know what this file is for?

FYI, I've figured what the problem was with the SD card. It's a miniSD in an adaptor and it looks like it was too lose. I just put a bit of folded paper cut the right shape between the miniSD card and the outer casing on the other side to where the contacts are. This is now making sure the miniSD is making firm contact with the adaptor contacts. Should be OK now.
Sorry Parky, I seem to be making more posts than you on your thread... |

I got the same error too.
Deleted said file, and then got another error from another file in in the Application Data folder :x
Since all my favorites are stored as POI's I now just copy the whole SD card to my PC as a back-up.
Everything backs up fine.
Not bothered with TomTom Back-up since. |
