I don't seem to be able to find a way of purchasing and then downloading TT6 mobile from te TT site.
If anyone knows how, or can let me have the URL, I'd be very grateful.
With a postal strike threatened, I don't want to rely on Royal Mail.
Thanks. _________________ Nokia E65 & TT Nav6 |

Mike,
I mean: TomTom NAVIGATOR 6 - Software & regional maps on memory card
I've followed the link to where it asks for credit card details, but don't want to go any further until I can be sure it will offer a download option instead of sending the SD card by post. _________________ Nokia E65 & TT Nav6 |

Assuming you have a TT product, have registered an account on the TT website and have installed TT Home on your PC, you can download software and maps etc.
Have you tried this?

Ah hang on that looks like maps only.
I'll keep trying
Edit Update:
Right it looks like you cannot download the application itself (awaits corrective action by others).
I upgraded from TTN5 to TTN6 in December when buying a new / improved map (that didn't include the new congestion charge - don't start me off), but that deal appears to no longer apply.
I'll have to admit defeat I'm afraid.

Hi Andy,
As I said before, the application was free when anybody bought new maps in December, but I believe that was a short term offer.

Does 675 work with TT5? I thought it didn't. Therefore it should have been an upgrade to the app as well. I would get on the 'phone to TT pronto and see what they are doing. _________________ Phil |

If you follow the instructions on this page that I quoted before,
http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=1&query=download+navigator&FID=6498
and select "Navigator 5" and then "other device", then you should have got the application as well.
Sounds like a phone call to Tom Tom

I don't think so. You only get a map for Navigator 5. You have to select a device that TomTom thinks will run Navigator 6 before they include the application. At least that's what happened when I did it. I started a new thread a little while ago asking how to download the Navigator 6 application on its own. There's a link in that thread on how to do it.

hgm,
If you follow the link I posted you get this
Quote: | TomTom has released map version 6.75 (Spring 2007) for NAVIGATOR 6.
If you have a NAVIGATOR 5 or MOBILE 5 device that is compatible with NAVIGATOR 6, you can purchase the 6.75 maps and you will receive the latest NAVIGATOR 6 application for free.See below to find out if your device is compatible with NAVIGATOR 6.
If your NAVIGATOR 5 or MOBILE 5 device is not compatible with NAVIGATOR 6, you can purchase a previous release of map version 6 (release 6.6 of winter 2006) from the map shop. This map is compatible with NAVIGATOR 5 / MOBILE 5. The NAVIGATOR 6 application is not included.

I think that covers it

Just to conclude this thread....
I ordered TT6 from the TomTom website on Mon 25 June and noticed that they said expect delivery within 2 to 5 weeks.
However, it arrived 5 DAYS later on Fri 29th by UPS.
Not bad, eh? _________________ Nokia E65 & TT Nav6 |

I just bought a map of Western Europe from the TT site. It is supposed to come with a free upgrade to Tom Tom 6. I can find no way of downloading this upgrade. Apart from that, the whole experience has been a pain. It took 3 hours to download 945Meg, and another 3 to install it on the chip, using the Tom Tom Home software. Usually a download of this size should be downloaded and installed by manual methods in a lot less time. Is it my system or is everyone else having the same problem? |

When I upgraded from TT5.21 to TT6 'for free' by buying the V660 MOWE update - the application (TT6) was downloaded at the same time. (This was earler this year). It does take a bit of time - but you can order it on SD card.
The installation is best done by making a copy onto SD card using your PC to do the transfer (it is MUCH faster). Then install TT from the SD card or, if just upgrading maps, going to ttcode.com to get the activation code. _________________ Phil |
