Hi

I am just bought a310D form Halfords. It is supposed to have a lifetime subscription to Trafficmaster (which we have been using for years). If I go to the garmin site to activate Trafficmaster subscription they want $60 off me.

Also with the 310D you get a CD with the maps of Europe but again Garmin want money to unlock the maps.

Have lodges a query with Halfords Customer Services, and awaing a reply.

Has anyone on this forum had any success with the two above problems??

David

The subscription to TM should activate automatically once you have a GPS signal - it shouldn't need activating.

As for the CD - I believe there should be a code in the box - this code might need entering on the Garmin website to get the right unlock code.

Personally, I would ring Garmin and confirm how it's supposed to work - they will know much better than Halfords ever will.

I have a 310D also from halfords.

You do have an unlock code in the box the the Europe Maps although its quite had to find! Look for the yellow slip with the bar code at the bottom - just above it you will find the unit serail no, registration code and full 25 key unlock code...

Bought mine at Halfords last Saturday.

Plugged it all in and the TMC is a lifetime subscription to RAC live.
This shows-up once the Nuvi has recognised the FM receiver (GTM 12 in my case).

I spent ages looking for the 25 character unlock code for the software.
Tried to find it on the Garmin website and found some info that pointed me to the yellow sheet of paper that was in the box.
I should have looked at both sides of the sheet in the first place.
The codes unlock and registration codes are at the bottom, but it's not immediately obvious.

Thanks all for your assistance, Halfords are a bit naughty in advertising that the traffic subscription is to Trafficmaster, but nevertheless, the RAC one seems good.

Yes I have found the Maps unlock Code, very well hidden wasn't it.
So we are fully up and running.

Trafficmaster and RAC Live are one and the same thing.

Thanks Trafficman for your info, my wife is now reassured seeing that the RAC system is Trafficmaster. We have been using a Trafficmaster for years and my wife has faith in it and Trafficmaster.

Once again Thanks
David

I was thinking of getting one of these units, can you plan an itineray with numerous waypoints as in TT3. once your route is planned can you view it before setting off.

Hi,

I've just bought a 310d from Halfords too but I can't unlock the maps. I have the yellow paper with the code on but it doesn't seem to match unit.

Should the serial number on the yellow paper match that on the back of the unit?

Also, what version of map did your unit come with. Mine is v8 from September 2005!!! Seems a bit old to me.

Think I may have been sold a duff!

Cheers

Rob

It certainly doesn't sound right - is the unlock code for v8, or v9? I would recommend returning it to Halfords for another unit...

No - nuvis don't allow itinerary planning. However you can add a "via" into the route once planned. But you can overcome this by creating your intermediate 'waypoints' (destinations) as Favourites and simply select them in the order you want (like with TT3) as neither Garmin or TT do real multi-stop route planning (i.e. best routes / order of stops)

There's obviously a big stockpile of old Nüvi 310's somewhere !

I bought mine in April '07 (from Amazon) and it came with CN V8. My b-in-law bought one in May (from Staples) and that had V8 too. (Along with ancient firmware to match).

Took it back today and got a replacement with v9 and the correct codes.

Good deal really - they knocked £30 off the first one because it was the display model and they didn't charge me any extra for the new one today.

Thanks for your help

You should also be able to get the latest 2008 maps for free by registering the unit with garmin. i did this with my 510 earlier this month.
