i have a DS now (thanks to GJF) so it should be quicker and easier for me to issue changes to the format, if required. i'm currently testing the specs system in terms of start/end points and what happens if they are missing

Hi MaFt

Just to let you know if Specs camera's are missing along a section the DS will just time out usually at 1643 metres and at times after 1799 metres at a different section, I am not sure of the significance for the differing lengths for timing out as DS were also mystified by this.

The last firmware update from DS improved the problem but did not cure it.

An easy answer to solving the problem is to insert a dummy Specs at the point where the unit timed out, this would still make you aware that you are within the specified speed range along that section.

Kind Regards

Drive safely Wink

Reference the DS database.

I have just checked the DS website for updates and the latest one they have is 010607.hex.
The most recent one previously that I had was 230207.hex which I downloaded in February.

Does anyone know how up to date 010607 is likely to be and how accurate it is?

On a seperate note, my account for the DS forum was disabled and of course Neil has not answered any e-mails, so I have not bothered re-joining the forum, but I do visit it from time to time. Has anybody got any fresh information as to what's happening to the DS product/company?

I hadn't noticed that a new database version had recently been posted but I have wondered for a while now whether the "new" versions are in fact updated at all. I submitted changes twice which I was told would be applied in the next version ... but neither ever appeared.

For info.. there isn't much point in trying to rejoin the forum. My account there has gone too, but when I re-apply the authorisation step required is never carried out. I think we may as well give up on them.

Hi JimmyGreen and KathS, Welcome
If you go back a page, read my answer at the third post down, HERE I think you will find the best option is to sign up here, it's £2 month or £19 year, but there isn't much use having a free DS database if it's rubbish.

MaFt on this site is still "tweaking" the new database to get it working 100%, but it is proving difficult due to the odd way the DS database is written, but even in it's present state is more accurate than the DS version.

I'm like you a DS user and you will find that pgpsw have adopted us to their forum and doing their best to help, but you will need patience, as it is new ground for them particularly on Spec's cameras.

Yes thanks GJF I've already signed up and loaded the database today... first try out tomorrow. I've been reading through lots of the posts here and realise its a work in progress but it sounds excellent already and hopefully will keep my DS going for a long time.

I could see from the map that this database is more accurate - the changes I had been trying to get DS to make are already on there for example.

Hi

Just found this site and downloaded the latest update for drive smart using the instructions.

Used the private version loader to just load the PGW database however the ds is getting stuck with the program mode not switching off.

Is this a problem with the private version/database or just me?

Any ideas please.

Hi mrjbluedog,

Welcome to the new home of Drive Smart owners.

I assume it is the DriveSmartLoader-1.4.16_private, if so i would close it all down and try it again.
I did have a problem getting it to take the database when first used, but seems OK now.
I presume you used the instructions as listed HERE

Yes thats the version and instructions I'm using.

I have tried complete shut downs, but whenever it reaches the end I click the finshed but the ds stays in data mode (the standard ds downloads used to switch the ds back on).

I'm concerned that if I just switch th ds off while in data mode the downloads won't have taken.

Regards

When the database has loaded it doesn't switch the DS back on as in the "old" program.
When you are certain that it has finished, after running through some numbers, it will say in the box at the centre top, whether the download was successful or not, then just disconnect and carry on as usual.
Hopefully this will be working fine.

Thats great. It ran and picked up a camera not on the old ds database while the cameras been there for 6 months.

I now have another problem which you maybe able to help. The screen has become locked on the Geographic Co-ordinates Display. I cannot see any instructions for setting to geographic in the manual, nor how to reset the ds to default settings, any ideas please.

Thanks for all your help.

YES, when the DS is "in-use" the UP button will toggle you between 3 display modes. Normal, BIG Speedo & Coordinates. The DOWN button will toggle the sounds between 4 modes. Silent, Voices only, Beeps & Voices and Beeps. If you press and hold the DOWN button for about 3 seconds, this will tobble the backlight On/Off.

ok?
