Can you please redefine your question as I cannot make out what the problem is with the N95 - Mike |

I think what he is trying to say is, can you use our database on the inbedded software on the N95, NOT anything to do with Tomtom. _________________ Tomtom Go730T

I know nothing about the N95, but a quick Google brought this up:
Cons: GPS chip is located under the keypad • lower chip sensitivity • full navigation is not free • chip does not work with third party applications
so unless it can work with camera locations out-of-the-box, it looks like you are out of luck. |

Unless someone creates a POI Warner program that can run on the N95 then I doubt you can use the speed camera database on the Nokia unless you install a navigation application that can use camera warning, Route 66 or TomTom etc.
The standalone Speed Camera warning applications I have tried that use the PGPSW Speed Camera Database are GPS Speed Sentry and Camera Aware, neither of these products will work on the N95 AFAIK.
Why not ask Nokia and Smart2Go to get some POI warning functionality in their code, this might be the best route to take at the moment, or consider a different phone - Mike |

From what I can see in the review there is nothing wrong with the phone - it's the GPS that is at fault. It has very restricted functionality and you have to pay to download maps. Plus of course the GPS drains the battery much too quickly. He'd be better off switching off the GPS bit and buying a separate GPS unit.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the phone its a nice device, its just that software options are somewhat limited for the Nokia at the moment - just thought I would put a reason behind my earlier comment as it is being quoted - Mike |

I have just come back from a weekend with my daughters, one of which works as a shop manager for a major network provider. There appears to be some sort of firmware problem with the N95s at present - not to do with the GPS per se but more that calls get disconnected randomly. She was saying that one company have stopped supplying them at present. Her small shop has had 3 returned in the last week. with a variety of faults. _________________ Phil |

You don't have to pay to download maps; they are free apart from the data transfer time bt if, as I do, you download them via PC using Nokia Maploader, they are effectively free. The bit that costs money is the routing. That is a licenced component. _________________ Tim |

Thanks for the clarification. As I said I was only going from the review - I've never seen one.
So do you have to pay every time you calculate a route? What does that cost?

I think you can buy a licence for a month, a year or three years. I don't know as I don't use it for routing, only for seeing where I am. I have TTM6 on my N95 and have just downloaded Garmin's S60 application as I have a suitable BT GPS for it. _________________ Tim |
