Hi,
I'm confused. I've posted on the forum before to ask this but I'm still unsure as to the answer...
I want an all in 1 satnav as I'm currently using tt nav5 on a pda with a separate bluetooth receiver.
I like the 310 but don't need traffic. I do, however, need european mapping. Currently it is on amazon at a good price but advice previously has been that it doesn't have europe.
The garmin website appears to confirm this BUT the amazon page states otherwise...
Which is correct? I suspect i know the answer.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Garmin-Satellite-Navigation-Loaded-Guide/dp/B000RF39IS/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/026-8718046-1975652?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1182378111&sr=8-2
can anybody help?
If I'm willing to lose the bells and whistles I could go for the new 250 right? It states it has full western AND eastern Europe mapping. Is this correct and if so does it hold true for the 310? |

According to the Garmin UK site, it's UK / Ireland only. You could buy additional European mapping and run it of an SD card but it would be less expensive to buy a pre-configured unit from day one.
The price on Amazon is very good - I bought the wife a 310 a few weeks ago.
The Amazon offer is promoted on the Garmin UK web-site. _________________ Phil |

Hi,
I liked the look of the 300 series on Amazon with the good pub guide embedded.
Amazon says it's full euro, gut garmin website says not - and for the price, I'd doubt it !
I've just got a 250 from Comet (170 on t'internet) - full euro, but no traffic / bluetooth etc.
Very pleaseed with it so far. |

I think the issue comes from how Garmin market these (310). They will be sold throught Europe with different 'localisations' so they do cover all of Europe - but not in the same unit :D _________________ Phil |

I've gone ahead and ordered one anyway on the off-chance...
I'll see whether it dies. I've all ways got an argument to send it back as the amazon advert states 'europe' and not 'uk and ireland' as it used to.
I was wondering whether they'd upped the mapping to europe now that they've issued the 250's as a newer model.
If not-i'll return it and go for the 250. I checked them out in Halfords and there isn't much in it size wise but the 250 does look a little nicer.
thanks for your responses... |

The 310D (delux) available from Handtec (and Halfords at larger price) has european maps on CD (and traffic etc.) |

When you get the 310, check the map version. If its v8 then you're entitled to a free update to v9 maps. Register the nuvi with Garmin and send for the update DVD. The unlock code for the v9 DVD should unlock all of the European maps. Well, mine did! I bought mine from amazon a couple of months ago.
The new UK and Ireland maps load into the internal memory. You'll need an large capacity SD card to load the rest of Europe onto. |
