I have a self modded TMC unit that I use with my 910 with the latest Western and Central Europe Maps
My wife has the 510 with the latest UK and RI+ Major roads.
The other day I took her 510 with me and connected up the TMC and I hardly got a signal over 600 miles, my 910 gets a signal over the same route around 90% of the time.
anyone else notice this?
The people who are having no signal problems, are you on a uk only mapping or western/central europe? _________________ Garmin Emap, Ipaq 2210 with TomTom Navigator 5, TomTom One, Pioneer AVIC-X1R, TomTom 910 (stolen). Strange observation, although it could be down to different versions of the TomTom application behaving differently between the two devices there have been slight alterations to the RDS-TMC system since its introduction.
I cannot see how the map can affect the reception of radio waves 8O and for crazylegs benefit the actual RF receiver for the RDS-TMC is in a little external pod - it is not in the Go device.
I have tried UK and IE as well as the Western and Central Europe map, I have not noticed any improvement in terms of RDS-TMC reception, there is certainly no degradation in reception, though that said it would be very hard to make it worse - Mike
