|
|
Hi Guys,
I've just bought a Nuvi 660 and it successfuly finds my Nokia N70 and you can make and receive calls, but I can't get my N70 phone book to transfer to the 660. I follow the instructions on the Garmin website, marking all contacts, sending via BT, select the Nuvi, it then tries to connect (all the while the Nuvi is showing BT connection icon) then it states connection failed.
Also tried using the data transfer application within the Tools folder, but working through all the prompts appears to disconnect the BT connection just when the data is being transmitted. To get the Nuvi to see the N70 I have to go into the system tools, into BT and re-select my N70 identity.
Any suggestions please?
Regards,
Richard. |

There's a small S60 app you can download from nokias website for downloading the phone book to the Nuvi... I think there's a pointer to it from Garmins website. |

One of the guys I work with had the same problems that you describe with his phone, also a Nokia I think. He said it turned out to be a bug in the BT software, so Garmin told him how to update the BT firmware, he rebooted the unit and it was all sorted. I don't know the exact steps to do this but I think it's in one of the hidden screens. If you get no joy from the S60 app, I can email him and ask exactly what he did. |

Hi Guys,
Yes, I did download the S60 application from the Nokia website as descibed by Garmin. I assumed that I was using it when I went into the N70 Tools folder and selected Data Transfer. Do you think I'm not using it? What should I look for on my N70 for applications?
Harveyc, I think it would be helpful if you could get the details from your colleague.
I've sent this query directly to Garmin but have not had a response yet.
Best regards,
Richard |

Any luck on the Nokia Contact Download S60 App ?
I have mine up and running but only seem to get 250 odd of my 550 odd contacts transferred from my Nokia N70 to my Nuvi 660 - it seems to be the most recently added ones that do not make it accross to the 660 from the N70.
Anyone know of any solutions as Garmin and Nokia do not seem to know ! |

Are all your contacts on the phone or are some of them on the SIM card? I think they have to be in the phone memory for the app to work - at least this is what appears to be the case for my Nokia N72 and nuvi 660 - but my N72 is new to me (7 days) so perhaps I haven't got it all worked out yet _________________ Phil |

It called Nokia 810 Contact Download and you get it from here:
http://europe.nokia.com/A4143881
Make sure you get the correct one (for the N70) and that you also download the PDF manual as it's not the worlds most intuitive program. It's actually designed to make the S60 phones connect to the Nokia 810 hands-free - which must be based on the same Parrot technology as the nuvis.
It works very well once you get it going!
Added later:
Sorry - meant to say - the installation requires you to clear down any existing BT paiting with the phone and nuvi and may require you to turn the nuvi off and on again at one point. The manual keeps telling you to turn the 810 unit off by turning off the car ignition; for this step turn the nuvi off and on again - it seems to need to do this the first time to get the paring right and recognised by the N70 application. As I say - not intuitive. _________________ Phil |
