Hi,
I have received an email telling me my month subs is going to expire. That was long enough, however, to tell me that your database is updated much more frequently than the Garmin one.

The problem I have is that, due to a colossal error on the part of the lease company who supplied my car without the satnav it was ordered with, I was given a Garmin SatNav, and they said they would pay for the speedcamera databases.

Now they, and I actually, would prefer to pay for the subs for the length of the car lease which is 3 years, Is it possible to somehow pay for 3 years or lifetime in advance, and get a receipt? Laughing

Also, while talking about this database, how configurable is it? The only 2 things I would like to change are, the constant pinging when in an alleged mobile camera zone, and redlight cameras need to be removed, imho ..(us bikers get funny about red light jumpers knocking us off...)

Thanks in advance

Pete

Can't help with the subscription question, that's one for the admin.

I presume you can simply turn off the alerts for just mobile cameras on the Garmin (you certainly can on the TomTom) assuming you have used one of the versions of the database that treats them seperately (i.e any version other than the "all in one" single file version). Or you could just not install the mobile camera files in the first place.

Don't understand your point about the redlight cameras. How would removing the warnings stop people jumping the lights?
Also, an increasing number of redlight cameras are now speed cameras as well.

You can pay £19 for a years subscription, but I dont think you can pay for 3 years or life, When you pay, you will get some sort of receipt, depending how you pay. I'm not to well up on the Garmin, can you, not download the red light cameras, or delete them after you have downloaded them, or disable them, also, with the mobile cameras, can't you set the Garmin to not give you a warning on mobiles?

With the Garmin you only have the option to install the POI files or not, it is your choice - if you don't want the Mobile locations (or pMobile locations) simply unzip the dowload and delete the relevent files from the folder BEFORE pointing POILoader at the folder containing your POI files.

If you are getting a constant pinging from the device are you below the speed limit?? - if you are something is wrong most probably KPH instead of MPH when installing the files to the device via POILoader springs to mind.

Let me explain - do you get pinging for warnings of a camera rated at 30MPH when travelling above 17MPH? - if so re-load the camera files but select MPH instead of the stupid default KPH in the POILoader application - Mike

You can top up your subscription at any time, i therefore don't see any reason why you cant pay the £19 sub fee three times to get the three years sub. May still be worth waiting till someone from admin confirms this though before giving it a try.

Indeed you can. If you top up at any time the sub is automatically extended. So pay for an annual and then top up with two further £19 payments will get you three years coverage. You can then print out your PayPal receipt as proof.
