3-D versus 2-D

As a matter of interest, is there a performance hit using 3D over 2D? My unit is a GO910.

I must confess that I prefer the 3D display for all sorts of reasons, but the main one is that, to me, it relates to what's going on out there. The only problem I sometimes find is that the display is very slow to update when going round roundabouts for example - doesn't always happen......

I always thought it was 2D for men 'cus we can read maps and 3D for women

I prefer 3D since it gives me a more intuitive representation of the road. Also, in the 2D mode the current location is in the middle of the screen so I have stuff that's behind me on the map that I don't really care to see.

I have occasionally switched to 2D when in major urban areas where the sheer density of roads makes it easier to see in 2D.

Guys, the 3D you are talking about is not 3D at all, you are just looking at the same flat (2D) map at an angle and it should be called 2.5D or pseudo 3D.

Anyone been on the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, located in Marvel Super Hero Island at Universal's Studio's Island of Adventure, in Orlando Florida.

Now that's what you call 3D, can't wait for the day when that comes on my Sat Nav HUD combination.

Tried 2D today. Garmin i3 zooms out too far to make it usable for me. Now have to stare too long and hard at the screen to work out which turning it wanted me to do. Much easier in 3D.
