hi guys

i'm after a comprehensive list of POIs for the UK - i see some sites with a breakdown of POI files, but is there any "one file to rule them all"?

secondly, is it possible to actually update the POI files on a Mio C320?

finally... one annoyance with the Mio C320 is not being able to speed up the overview of the route. Is this possible to do via a hack of one of the files on the unit?

any help is mucho appreciated

ta

i'm new to GPS units, but after reading a load of threads on this site, a few things confuse me:

1. why would you need the "Mio Hack" when you can view the POI folder through windows?

so if you have the speed cam database, all you need to do is explore the Mio unit, and copy the database over the top.

I also don't see any 'hack' that work with the C320 - is this correct?

2. downloading POIs from this site when using IE7 is very difficult! it'd be awesome if someone could solve that issue...

3. the mio presumably stores all POIs in the IGo database file, as i've deleted the file under the POI folder on the mio but the POIs are still on the unit

therefore is the only way to update the igo.db file through POI explorer?

for anyone who is having the same issue and also can't find anything of real use using the search function, i put a little note on my site to download - homelands.me.uk/help.txt

for some reason i couldn't post it into the forum because it thinks it has html tags in it. the POIs are not the only flaky thing on here it seems

Hi
Regarding your questions,
1) Well if you have access to all files and folders on your enire unit you donīt need any hack. The Mio_transfer_hack, bluetooth connections etc are for those of us using the C510, C710, C250 etc units.

It appears that Mio has changed their new units so at least the C520 can be fully accessed from Windows Explorer as a Mobile Device without any need for special software. From what you are describing the C320 works the same way.

2) cannot anwer for that one since i am running Firefox Smile

3) igo.db stores your POIs but you also got the ones integrated in the Teleatlas maps and there is no way to get rid of those. Thus, if you import a file of Gas stations into your igo.db you will see duplicate POIs on the map in the case the Teleatlas map already got the station in question.

I hope that is of some help.

that's useful to know that it's the teleatlas maps hold the POIs

the POIs are quite limited IMO, so i'll be hiding all the teleatlas ones and viewing those i download

any idea if the preview route can be 'fast forwarded' so to speak ?
