|
|
Hi,
I'm new to my Tom Tom GO 710, and I've tried searching the forum and got 12600+ entires, of which the first two pages didn't seem relevant, so, at the risk of someone telling me to go search.............
Once I've set my Go 710 to navigate to a destination, how do I cancel the navigation? Apart from powering the GO off?
Why would I want to cancel the route? Because I've changed my mind and wanted to go somewhere in a different town instead....
I an find plenty of references in the manual to navigation, but not to cancelling the navigation once you've set it.
Hopefully it's glaring ly obvious and I just can't see it.
Thanks in advance - BB |

If you tap the screen you'll find 'Cancel Route' about three pages along unless you have the simple menu option enabled. If you don't see 'Cancel route' open preferences and select 'Show all menu options' then retry _________________ Darren Griffin |

Two methods
1. Simply Navigate to somewhere else!
2. Select "Clear Route". This is an option which may not be immediately visible, it's third or fourth screen. But it doesn't show until you have activated ALL menus, so "Change Preferences" and use the right arrow to move through until you reach "Show ALL menu options" and tap that. You'll get lots more menu options, including "Clear Route"
Wise advice if you don't mind - backup your device before playing around too much. Best backup method is simply use Windows Explorer (set to show ALL file and Extensions), create a directory on your PC (e.g. GO710Backup2007-05-27) and copy everthing from your SD card into it. Tom Tom Home will also let you do a backup, but Win Explorer more easily lets you be in control of what and where. _________________ Dennis

Thanks DennisN
I have used option 1, of course then I keep getting directions for somewhere else I don't want to go to, but I realise your tongue was in your cheek.
I'll check out option 2 tomorrow, assuming it has stopped raining and the car hasn't been washed off the driveway with the GO inside it.

No, it wasn't tongue in cheek - you said the reason you'd want to cancel the route was to go somewhere else! (So you would get directions for somewhere you DO want to go to). No matter, it's what happens when you set a new route - the previous one disappears into "recent destinations".
I do hope you were tongue in cheek about the floating car "with the GO inside it". Local crims did my passenger window a fortnight ago on my driveway and searched it thoroughly, presumably because I'm daft enough to leave my satnav mounts on the windscreen. At least I disappointed them as the satnavs were in the house, but it still cost me a new window £140 and repair to doorframe £120. PLEASE don't give your local crims the idea. _________________ Dennis
