Florida Maps

Hi all not been here in a while as I not used my N520 in a while as had no need to as not been on a trip.

Well I am off to Florida in 6 weeks and can hire a sat nav for £100 for 2 weeks. Which I think is madness.

Is there anywhere that I can purchase the Florida/Usa maps etc on an SD card as plug and go or is it only in disk form.

If so what size of card will I need to fit the USA maps on.

Where is cheapest for Florida Maps.

Or is there another sat system out there that is dirt cheap with cheaper usa maps for it.

All of North America will need a 2 gig card, but only Florida on it's own will need around 64meg (i.e. the size card you don't bother with anymore). As far as I know USA Maps are not avalible by state - I think you need to buy the lot.
I would not recommend buying 'cheap' maps - theres only one provider (Navman) and if you don't get them from a reputable retailer, (apart from moral and legal issues) you probably will be ripped off.

Look into a cheap second hand unit ready to go (from ebay), or buy a new one and ebay it when you leave the good ol USA. It will probably be cheaper than £100 for the few weeks, but is likely to be more hassle.

If you are checky a lot of people in the USA buy someting, use it for a short time, and take it back to the shop complaining it's no good, I don't condone it though, but even if you get hit with a 10-20% restocking it's probably cheaper.......

Of course a paper map would be $US10 when you get there....
