Email TT and complain that the maps are out of date on a new device, they just gave me the latest ones for free. |

Yes, that was my point. If you buy a new device with old maps, TomTom might well update for free (see other posts on this forum). But they certainly won't do that for a refurbished unit

The refurbed units have 6 months manufacturer's warranty and the remainder 6 months from CPC as they have one year CPC on all products. Having bought many items from them in the past and current time, they are a great company to deal with. _________________ TomTom Go720 v8.320

Most of us have to pay VAT. This is £171 plus whatever postage they charge. |

Perhaps this sounds a daft question but how do you know if you have the latest map? I bought a 510 about 2 weeks ago. It doesn't show a housing estate (where I live) which has been there for 2 years. Can I assume the map is out of date? How often does Tomtom update their UK map?

The map on your 510 could be more 6 months old. Esp. if its been sitting in a high street shop like PCW since xmas.
Look at the map version on the device. TomTom Home will tell you.
If its not a v675 map then hassle TT to give you a free update |

Okay, I did that and Tomtom eventually sent me what I presume was an up-to date download of the UK map.
However, when I went to install this I got a message on my PC screen to tell me that there was "no space on my device"! I would have thought that the new map would simply overwrite the old one.
Where do I go from here please? |

Think how many people would complain if it DID overwrite the old one without asking you!
Do a full backup (using Windows Explorer, not Home) then you can delete the old map folder from your Go before installing the new one.
See TomTom FAQs Number 1.
Alternatively you could copy the entire contents of your SD card to a larger one, and add the new map to that.
See TomTom FAQs Number 8.
