I've had a look at www.makayama.com and the software seems pretty good so far, but for converting divx and xvid is poor.
So my question is, is there another converter and player available that does work and works without dropping frames?
Thankyou
Deus. |

Have a look at www.Mobilnova.com its alot better than makamaya in my opinion. One thing i really like like about Mobilnova is that you can use your remote control with the video player too. |

Thanks Andy, I did download the media player earlier, but the site was down, I thought it was a dead link. This does look much better. |

The servers privately run from his own home by the look of it hence the possibility of some downtime. A new version has just been released in the last few days too adding support for the new TT One XL, plus some bug fixes in the Converter. Got me to thank for the bug fixes (well partly) i've been sending Sergey lots of log files and test video files. |

You can tell him yourself via the forums i'm sure he'll be happy to hear from you. He is always open to banter about his software whether its good or bad, after all that's how software gets new features or bug fixes. There's a link to the forums on the left hand side of the Mobilnova website. |

Check your spam filters. Mine came through fairly quickly but it certainly wasn't a few seconds. |

Yep the Mobilnova is A1. I use it every day while waiting to be unloaded at my drops. Then back to TomTom for navigation for my next delivery etc etc. It even re-starts the video where you left off the last time you watched that particular movie. JUST BRILLLLL :D |

Keep the left slider to the far right and the right slider at the centre position. Tick the box "2 pass" and the other box "crop" usually needs ticking for alot of stuff to make it fit the screen properly.
With the above settings you should get a good trade off between encoding speed and picture quality. Also a nice fast PC will encode the files alot faster than an older PC. |

It does take a qhile on an older PC, but my laptop is on all day - for Skype, and it does nothing else, until now, now it transcodes all day too :D

I've not tried it myself but Mobilnova already does DVD conversion. When you go to open a file just point it to your DVD drive instead, then you just need to point it to the main DVD movie VOB file (i think). There is info about it in the Mobilnova forum. |
