|
|
My father in law wants to upgrade his Mio 168 from Navigon 5 to Navigon 6. The Navigon website allows you to select Mio 168 as your PDA to get upgrade pricing, however when he contacted them, Navigon replied:
Quote: | The software MN6 is not compatible with your Mio 168 pda, but it is compatible with the Mio268+ |
I assume this is because Navigon 6 comes on a 2GB SD card, and the Mio 168 is listed as supporting up to 1 GB. Is anyone successfully running Navigon 6 with the Mio 168? If so, are there any tips or tricks (eg specific SD card brand, trimming it to UK only maps to fit on a 1 GB SD card) to get it running?
Cheers

runs fine here on a 168, maybe a bit of lag but once used to it no prob
the uk map aint that big, so dunno why it ships with a 2 GB card , the 168 should from what i gather take a 2 Gb card anyway
mn6 is good after getting used to the slight lag, much better on the routing driving a truck than tomtom |

I run MN6 on a Mio168 clone without any problems and removed all the European maps to make more space on the SD. If it runs on ARF501s genuine Mio 168 then he should say that he has a Typhoon MuGuide 6500XL which is exactly the same EXCEPT for a more powerful CPU. According to the Navigon representative at Sandown there is an update to 6.5 coming in June. |

Just to let you know it is a genuine Mio 168 and not a Typhoon as suggested.

No, No that was not what I meant! If you tell the navigon system you have a Typhoon MyGuide 6500XL then it will offer you the software that WILL run on a Mio168. |
