Can any of the RDS-TMC experts who know how TMC works tell me if signal quality can effect the info received, ie on my TT unit if I've got a solid grenn circle and the occasional rotaing arrow, does this mean I'm getting all there is to get? Sounds a stupid question, but I've recently done quite a few long journeys covering several transmitters, and have found on a couple of occasions that a long term roadworks near my destination will show up on transmitters one and two, dissapear on transmitter 3 and reapear on transmitter 4.
I'm starting to think that data reception is dependant on signal quality rather like the old analoge mobiles
Any thoughts? _________________ Go740L App 9.510 Europe 985.8155

Certainly if you are having reception problems one of a number of things may occur:
1. The signal keeps dropping below the level the unit can read the messages, hence you will be missing many messages whilst the signal is too low
2. Despite the unit picking up enough signal for a small duration, it might then never pick up enough signal again, so instead of getting all the traffic messages available, you may get 1 or 2 and no more.
So, basically, yes, signal reception level will impact whether or not your unit can receive any messages, but I would not expect the signal level, if constant, to affect the ability to receive messages - it's the constant dropping below the level that will cause missed messages. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums.

Thanks Swing, I seem to be getting info, ie on my TT unit I get the revolving arrow, maybe the sinal is dropping before the info has finished. I must admit, it's more noticable in France than in the UK. BTW I've got a modified unit, but only connected to the unamplified car aerial. I must get around to sorting out an amplifier of some sort. _________________ Go740L App 9.510 Europe 985.8155
