|
|
I have had to start a new thread as I have been unable to find any real entries that deal with this. I want to buy a Nuvi 660 with the integrated FM transmitter. The problem is that I am getting very confusing messages from different sources.
HandNav and Garmin both state that the 660 is not available in the UK with the integrated FM transmitter. I have however had BLOKESSTUFF state that this will be available in the UK.
I am aware that Ofcom have now made these FM transmitters legal in the UK. So does anyone out there know if and when the 660 with FM transmitter might be available and that it will work?
Many Thanks |

baggaa,
I've got a 670 and it has the FM transmitter. The devices became legal in this country recently. All subject to the power output of the transmitter. |

I'm not sure if Garmin are shipping 660FM units into the UK yet. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

I have a 660 FM. Bought it in Halfords. Solves the problem of quiet voices. Auto interupt during MP3 playing, but you can't have the radio on. I'm very pleased with it. |

I have a 660 (non FM transmitter) and have bought a small FM transmitter that plugs into the headphone socket of the Nuvi.
I can now broadcast all my music, voice directions and phonecalls to my car radio and anyone within a 10 metre radius who has a radio tuned into my frequency.
If you want your phonecalls to remain private make sure the FM transmitter is off. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 660 FM

Two questions:
1. If your car radio is RDS will EON traffic info break in to the 660 transmissions?
2. Was your 660FM special? There is certainly a lot of conflicting info about inbuilt FM transmitter.
EDITED a few minutes later
Whoops - Just typed Garmin 600FM into Google and got this link where the 660FM is available at a premium of more than £50 over the basic 660 ! That's a lot more ! |

The handtec site states that they will be selling it at £364.24. Seems fairly reasonable for what it does. |
