just a bit of info to bear in mind before you purchase products....

I have just bought 2 No. TomTom GO910 Units, with Traffic and Camera subscriptions and 'deluxe leather cases', totalling just under £800. Imagine my disappointment when i find one unit to be faulty Sad

I'd expect any company worth its salt to arrange collection of the faulty unit without delay and sort it out...............But, Not easydevices.co.uk, who want me to Pay for a carrier to return the goods and also refuse to re-imburse the carriage costs!!!

My point is: BEFORE you buy an item, check carefully the return procedure if the item is D.O.A and also the return procedure during the products guarantee period..........

I certainly will only purchase such expensive goods from QUALITY suppliers in the future like Expansys and Totalpda.........

You should not have to be out of pocket when returning a faulty unit. Clearly the unit that you bought was not fit for purpose. Your contract is with the seller, and you should be able to return the goods at no cost to yourself. I have dealt with companies who have, without quibble, provided me with a pre-paid jiffy bag in which to send faulty goods back. I see no valid reason why this company cannot do this for you.

I would check the Sale of Goods Act, and the Distance Selling Regulations, because I think that this company is not playing the game at all.

I posed this query in a moderated newsgroup and I have cut and pasted the responses here:

The first was: "Only if the retailer is stupid enough to have omitted the necessary words from his terms and conditions.

By default the DSR says the retailer pays return postage, but it also
says that the retailer's terms and conditions may require the
purchaser to pay return postage (so they all do)".

But I would tend to go with:

"If he is returning it for repair or replacement, due to it being
faulty, then it is SOGA which applies, and that does require the
retailer to pay the costs of postage".

Quote the second reply to the retailer and see what they say.

Good Luck

Take care with PCW. I recently bought a 510 using their collect@store scheme.
When I got there every box was marked "pre-owned". I picked one that had obviously only been opened and beat the price down more.
The software and map I reckon were from <Q4 2006, so could have been in the store some time.
