I have to point out to the fact that the DSpocketgps_uk_sc.csv which is all the verified cameras that you mention, they cannot all have been verified, I have loaded Friday 11-05-2007 datbase and it is advising of camera's that have never been installed in the locations mentioned.

Not sure where the verifications came from? but I can assure you that they have never been sited at these locations ever!

Dont read me wrong guys it is great that a database is available for the DS, but it is not of much use if it advises of incorrect locations.

One mentioned was just 4 metres from a roundabout, quite difficult to speed past the point mentioned!

Regards

Welcome to the forum, would it be possible for you to identify the suspect camera(s) as each location has a unique ID number, if there is a problem its best the data is sorted out via submissions of errors/ new locations etc - but we need the ID number (or location - Lat/ Long) to investigate any further - Mike

Thank you Mike for your reply

I can of course pass to you the information, but not so easy when driving.

The good thing about the DS is I can zap the POI and give you the the Lat Long etc. but would prefer not to whilst driving so I shall past the POI again as a passenger.

I will post the information I have sometime this week.

However you missed my point I think, I advised that I used the verified database, but I fail to see how the database is verified if the POI has never been there in the first instance.

Also the database failed to mention any Specs camera's on the A2 Westbound and Eastbound past the M2 and prior to and just after the M25 (Darenth) as the road works will not end until late 2008.
These camera's have been sited there since Early February 2007.

Thanks again

Kind Regards

DSpocketgps_uk_sc.csv contains all camera types including mobile locations, so you won't necessarily see a physical camera when you get a warning. Are you using only the DSpocketgps_uk_sc.csv or are you also using the DSpocketgps_uk_pmobile.csv? The pmobile file includes the unverified mobile camera locations. If you have a look at the map , on the submissions page, you should be able to find the ID of the cameras.

The locations of those SPECS (at least SPECS:24212@50 (0,23711 ;5,142,407;50;1;1;190) is) are in the DSpocketgps_uk_sc.csv file.

Thanks again for a reply

Firstly I am using using only the DSpocketgps_uk_sc.csv (verified) file and the original DS Hex file.

Secondly in no way could a Moblile be sited directly off a roundabout the camera was announced as a Gatso not a Mobile camera.

If I look at the Kent safety camera site which is pretty up to date it makes no mention of a POI camera mobile or Gatso at either of the locations I have never seen any there, albeit even this site does not mention Specs, but this could be down to the Highways Agency.

Thirdly if as you say the Specs are in the above .csv file then I am intrigued as the DS does not announce any of the locations, unless I enter the data manually??

Am I missing something here?

I shall try and navigate the submissions map and see what I have missed!!

Thanks again

if you look in the DS forum threads you'll see that this has been mentioned - the ds seems to incorrectly interpret the data in the file even though we followed the format set by DS...

we're still working on it!!!

Hi Slipstream11,

This is just an observation but I ran the DS data alongside the pgpsw data and I was having problems with the data conflicting with each other (Every warning was showing gatsos everywhere Confused )I now use just the pgpsw database and although I have to report some errors with some mobile sites everything seems to be a lot better.

Hi,

Am new to this site. Is it better to run the DS database and the GPSworld side by side or just put the gpsworld one over the top??

Cheers

I would suggest one or the other, not both concurrently.

Can you identify this site by browsing our interactie map?

Any discussion about what if anything is wrong here is pointless until we know which camera we are talking about.

I have downloaded the latest DSpocketgps_uk_sc.csv 18.05.07 file and I have programmed this into the DS as a stand alone file.

As Snoopydog pointed out it maybe a conflict with the original DS file

Therefore I have programmed the above as a hex file, which is now in the main database of the DS.

I shall be on a long trip this weekend, maybe there will be an improvement.

By the way I did collect information in the DS as POI's and saved them on the PC, but I became somewhat confused as to Specs being called Gatso's and Gatso's that did not exist and advising that I was speeding at 20mph? I also collected data for no existent location's it got pretty hectic and confusing. Confused as to what was what.

I will start afresh with the single file and will zap the information again if necessary and write the information down that I have collected.

Not sure I can get my head round the map you provide Confused possibly easier just to let you have the .csv file the DS makes when zapping if you require that?

Thanks again

the specs being 'gatsos' is on purpose.

until i have had a chance to experiment with specs locations on the DS any without known start/end markers are set as gatso's.

there is not way to mark it as just a specs - only specs start or specs end. i have now got the DS working enough to test it out so will be experimenting as to what happens if a specs is added as a START but with no END point.

hope that is clear.

Hi MaFt

Well if you require the start and end points on the A2 from the M2 junction 1 onward toward to M25 @ Darenth then I will gladly give you the co-ordinates for start and end points West and Eastbound for the Specs along there.

This is easily done with the DS I shall zap them on my Journey tomorrow, can I PM the .csv file to you for you too have a look at?

However if you have just a start camera and not an end camera then the DS times out after 1640 metres or so, the downside is, if there are more Specs cameras along the same part of that route after 1640 metres the DS has timed out, then you are not warned of wether you are within or over the specified speed.

By the way I am using the latest BTST mark 2 with life subscription and in comparison to the DS I do not like the BTST at all!! the BTST also does not have correct information for Specs!! it announces the end Specs and not the start, oops to lateand also some of the information on Gatso's in there database are incorrect, kind of strange that!!

Thanks yet again

yes, feel free to email the file to MaFt AT pocketgpsworld.com

i initially set specs with no start/end info to be gatso's as i was aware of the 'timing out' with no end specs point so wanted to ensure people got a warning anyway
