I've not seen this on the Forums, apologies if I'm going over old ground here.....I've just received word (from a camera detector supplier) that Plod (or the 'safety partnerships') will now be able to place Mobile Units wherever they want (the rules dictated that it had to be an accident 'black spot'). They will also be able to work in pairs & monitor motorists passing between two mobile sites, over (say) a two mile distance.
According to the press release, this is to prevent camera 'surfing'. ie.Where a motorist will slow down on approaching a camera & accelerate away once passed. It is also aimed at motorists using GPS based Safety Camera Alert Systems.
Looks like I'll have to Pritt Stick a piece of binbag to my front reg plate (joking!!) :D |
