No, you DIDN'T say Home was giving the error, certainly not in the original thread which I saw today, then did some tests and then replied to.
First you said the "this zip file is corrupt", which kind of makes you think it is the zip extraction that is the problem, and then you said "open it with whatever you want and try and extact it to a folder" which implied that it wouldn't extract to a folder.
Also, at no time did you ever refer to the files by their correct full names - "pocketgpsworld_standard_files.cab" and "pocketgpsworld_standard_files.toc"....
and we could have asked why you aren't just using WinXP to do the unzipping.
Then, rather than answering, you started a new thread (this one), where I eventually found others had already done the same as I had.
Thanks for wasting my time. |

Welcome to the (very short) list of people I won't be bothering to try to help any more.
Insulting PMs aren't very big either.

Life is too short... 8) | Either forward a copy to Pgpsw Team, or post a copy up here, or tell him to send me one - I won't hesitate for a single second to ask for his membership to be revoked. I too tried to help and got a very ungracious response. Rambling, imprecise rants and complaints are the most difficult to help with and if you then get insulted, it puts you off trying any more. We try our best to be clairvoyant in these circumstances, but it rather jiggers the Muse when they behave like this. _________________ Dennis

I was not asking for any help,i was trying to tell pocketgps that there was a problem with one of the files in the home version.ok i did not make myself very clear, and as for the two posts, well if someone had sorted it the first time i would not have opened the second post.you all answered me as though i knew nothing about what i was doing.if you just tried to install the update through tomtom home it would have been sorted alot sooner.I dont use forums very often,so dont know how to go about saying the right words.it seems to me you have far to many rules.and next time if there is a problem i will keep it to myself. |

Let's just chill out, shall we.
@ BAZZA77
In your original thread you didn't answer the questions that were asked of you.
From your first Posting nobody knows how PC literate you are. You tell us there is a problem. So we have to coax the infomation out of you.
However good you are with a PC makes no difference if we don't know what is happening, and when.
Then when you started a new thread, continuing where the old one left off, it threw everything into confusion.
BAZZA77 wrote: | I was not asking for any help, | Your original Post was written as a plea of help.

Please remember this is a self help community. We all have to start somewhere, but if assistance is ignored, it can get very frustrating. ;) _________________ Richard

I know this site is used by many people who have bad English. Your English is far better than my French, German and Greek.
Everybody here really tried to help you. I hope you don't need help again, because like Andy, I shall not answer. _________________ Dennis

ok, we're all one big happy family again.
dennis & andy - your help IS appreciated so please don't be put off
bazza, pm's like that are a bit 'off' to be honest - we were only trying to help and as old boy said, we asked questions to try get a bit more information from you not to belittle you. it's hard to help someone with little information. eg - my computer isn't working, it keeps coming up with an error - can you tell me what the problem is? not much hlp, is it ;)

Post it up here Andy, then we'll see the options - sincere apology or banishment. I mean it. You don't have to take bad stuff from anybody. _________________ Dennis

Nah, as I said, life is too short.
Bazza has edited his 4:24pm post above, so it sounds like he's calmed down.
I'll make the assumption he would have edited the PM too if he could! |

Wasn't this precisely what we were admonished NOT to do when Edit facility was granted? On pain of withdrawal of facility? _________________ Dennis
