The OGG sound files found on This Page, are already named to go with the Camera Files.

Hope this is the right place to ask this - I have recently changed to ogg files for my warnings - my question is can you adjust the volume of the voice as I cannot seems to adjust it - I have a 510 and am most likley just missing an obvious function but please could someone help. Please note i do not wish to adjust the normal direction voice (which I have as silent) just the speed camera warning voice
Many Thanks in advance

You can do this by opening each voice file in a sound editor package on the PC and lower the volume before saving the file WITHOUT changing the file name.
Google "Audacity" as thats a free to use package that can do the above - Mike

That's got me a bit confused...
There is only one volume control, which affects both voices: Navigation and warnings. If you have that volume control turned all the way down to "have the navigation voice as silent" then the warning will be silent too.

There IS a "silent voice" which you can install as the navigation voice. If that's what you've done, then you can use the normal volume control to adjust the warning voice.

If you want to permanently reduce the warning voice level to match a navigation voice level, then do as mike says.
You will not, however, be able to INCREASE the level significantly, as when I prepared all the sound files on the PGPSW "ogg files" page, I already compressed the signals and then adjusted the level to be the maximum possible before distortion.
Sorry if none of this is relevant and if I'm being thick and missing something.

Probably not, to be honest the modified data.chk method is old hat: see my post slightly further up this page:
Andy - you are right we need to sort out the first page of this thread as its becoming a very regular question.

First post updated with links to the new .ogg file download pages and a notice that the data.chk file method is no longer supported.

It should work on the TT6 for all platforms - what device are you using and have you re-configured the warnings since adding the ogg files? - Mike

Hi Mike, im using an nokia N95, i dropped the og files in same directory as map as stated, now when i go into add warning i have no option to choose sound just like stated in the instructions, i went for a short drive to test it near some speed cameras and it just made the usual cow/ horn sounds

Any ideas

(just wondering if i used the correct ones text to speech)

I think ive found the answer to my own question
(With the files in place start TomTom Navigator and go to Change Preferences/ Manage POI/ Warn when near POI (this MUST be done even if your camera POI’s have been previously configured).

When you re-configure the warnings you need to go to Change Preferences/ Manage POI/ Warn When Near POI and perform the re-selection on each speed camera POI category you have installed to the device - 24 with the normal Speed Zoned, 33 with the PMobiles included IIRC

Have you done this for each of the installed files?

The fact the device isn't asking for a sound to play is correct, it shouldn't do; the software will recognise the presence of the ogg file and automatically use it - Mike

I sent some modified sounds by email, but they seemed to just drop into a black hole. No confirmation email.. Sad

Also emailed some questions, must have been a couple of months ago...

Is it better to post on the forum instead?
