ds playing up

the drivesmart is showing gibberish on the screen so am trying to reinstall the unit software. i have downloaded the usb drivers and DS loader software but when i try connect to the DS Loader program i keep getting the following error:

Error Connecting To Target

And the following in the message box:

Connection to COM4 at 115200 bauds ... OK
Open File C:\temp\ukhan_1.2.2.bin ... OK
Connection to ERA ... FAILED!!

I get the same when i try anything like copying logs etc. Can you give me any tips?

ps - using private version i can connect and load up the pgpsw database without any problems - just can't reload firmware

pps - loading the firmware has worked via the 'private' version of the ds loader

however, it's not fixed the gibberish...

ok, an update:

ds now no longer says 'drive smart activated' when it powers up and it won't get a satellite fix... well, the green 'lock' led is flashing all the time...

is there an easy way to totally reset this thing?

update - has now got a signal. guess it reset the 'cache' for the gps data when updating firmware.

still shows gibberish though!

cant test it yet though cos i've no way to power it yet in the car!!
