Have finally had this from Sony, with many apologies for the delay because their system doesn't work etc.:
"I apologise for the ongoing inconvenience you have been experiencing. I can confirm that the map updates for the NV-U50T has been delayed for a while. Information will be sent to you via email from the Sat Nav website once these updates have been placed on the website.
As of yet, we have no information whether these updates will be chargable or free of charge until it is on the website.
I apologise for the disappointment this email may cause you. "
Now we know. Not. |

Just exactly how useless are Sony? No notification of this - so thank you. But I have an almost new satnav and they want me to pay another £42 for a decent map?! Sheesh... |

After a very long wait for the GB map today I downloaded it. The file is 352mb this includes language files, active sync and other bits and pieces , updated software to work with the later maps and the GB map. It took three goes at downloading it stoped part way twice. The software on the Sony is now 1.50.02 and has now seven digit post code. At first glance the maps have the latest by-passes on and has a new housing estate near me, so fingers crossed they are really upto date. Worth £42 pounds yes I think so, but I will let you know if not after trying it out. |

avianskipdiver m8 I feel for you as a new owner. I have had my Sony for over 18 months so I didn't mind spending £42 for them to update the maps. |

I haven't be out on the road yet but the TMC lights up when in the cradle. As I said it's just a small software upgrade(1.50 to 1.50.02) to work with the later maps. |
