I am new to Sat Nav and have a Garmin nuvi 360. I have downloaded the latest UK Speedcamera Database, from the several choices - UK POILoader I3 Nuvi etc. The database seems to be for UK only.Where can I find Continental Speed Camera database to download to my nuvi as I am going to France and Belgium soon? Many thanks NDS |

Thank you for your quick response. I have had a look at the site you recommend and it appears very comprehensive and the basic one is for free which is even better. I am amazed that Pocket GPS World do not have a Continental download for Garmin products. Does it intend to do so in the future? Does it have a Continental download for other products, such as Tom Tom?
Many thanks again

There is a continental download which is generally ok and getting bigger and better all the time.
But this download is not available for all devices.
This is probably supply on demand. _________________ Dom

we're currently transferring the continental database into the current, main database so that we can releasethem in all the same formats as we do the uk one.
we also have to do some testing with all the software involved in releasing and converting the files.

Good news. I wish you well and look forward to being able to download UK and Continental updates for my Garmin at the same time.

Good news indeed. Any ideas when it might be available for general release.
I too use a Garmin (Streetpilot 2820) and would love to be able to load a European (incl Ireland ??) database. |

no dates as of yet.
not sure if we will be releasing the ireland ones though as it is illegal to use it there. we'd need to check the legalities of releasing something to people when we know it is illegal to use it...

One of the problems with having a database for speed cameras in France is that it is illegal. I have read in the papers that many Brits have been heavily fined when caught. However, I fail to see how the police can detect on a sat nav. |

Call me sceptical but after checking the internet and the forum I am still unable to find an official information about this!
Anyone have any links? _________________ Dom

Thank you MaFt. I forget to be specific when on this forum.
There still seems to be very little information about legal use of gps devises abroad where installed with Speed Camera information. Everything I found on the internet is hear say, and no official word from the likes of AA, RAC or any of the rags, BBC. Is it legal or not? and in which countries?
The only one I know is Switzerland where it is illegal.Disscussed Here _________________ Dom
