Andy the chap is using TomTom Mobile 5 so ogg files are not applicable - I don't think you can extend the number of warnings using Rays POIExtend application either (the one where we got 30 warnings in the data.chk file IIRC it was only for Go units or PPC) - Mike

Am I using TT Mobile 5??

After my initial query you responded thus:-

Code:
You can install spoken alerts on your new toy, have a read of the instructions on This Page, we use ogg files these days which cover lots of different TomTom products (yours included) and there is an ogg file download page on the site (read the guide I linked to above - it provides the instructions and link to the downloads page) - Mike

Suggesting that I use ogg files!

Sorry, but you have got me a tad confused now.

Can you please clarify if Andys reply is relevant to my issue?

Thanks

If that's right JW, you AREN'T using TT Mobile 5 (that's a very old bit of software for mobile phones IIRC), so my answer stands! Smile

You won't find a version of the data.chk file for your 910, use the ogg file method to get spoken alerts, you can find details on This Page.

Don't forget the 910 also has the Text To Speach option, and this can be used for setting up spoken alerts, there is a set up guide specific to the 910 Here - Mike

Can someone edit the first post in this thread so people don't KEEP looking for the old data.chks, but are directed to the .ogg instructions straight away. No-one is going to wade through all 66 pages to find out about it.

PostPosted: Sun May 06, 2007 2:18 pm    Post subject: Latset Tom Tom software Reply with quote

Hi,
I have just downloaded the latest Tom Tom software (6.525) (for 510) and found that my warning voices have gone - i have reloaded the latest voices file (7960), but the voices have not returned. In fact i got a new sort of software front end, that just kept on crashing on me. Is there anything i can do other than wait for a new voices software file or have i done something wrong elsewhere.
Many thanks in advance Question

smorg, Welcome to the forum, You won't find a version of the data.chk file for your 510, use the ogg file method to get spoken alerts, you can find details on This Page.

To stop the device crashing put the original unmodified data.chk file back on to the 510, then look at the ogg file method on the page I linked to above, it is much easier to do, there are voice packs available to download for free, what's more you can have spoken alerts for up to 100 different custom POI categories doing it this way - Mike

See This Page for instructions on using the OGG warning method, the data.chk file is not available for your version AFAIK - Mike
