|

Hi,
On several occasions, Tomtom has lost my 'Favourites' along with my 'Home' location.
This can happen after using Tomtom only minutes before, yet when I open it again, favourites etc. have gone.
I am using Tomtom v6.000 on a Dell Axim PDA. I have tried restoring the PDA using a back-up file when all was fine but these favourites have not returned.
Is there a way to back up favourites or indeed a way to stop them disappearing?
Thanks |

Get the device fully configured as per your preferences next exit the application and use File Explorer on the PDA, go to Memory Card/ GB Map folder and find the MapSettings.cfg file tap and hold, select copy from the pop-up, now go to wherever you want to keep a backup and paste the copy.
Should your unit loose its settings again simply copy the MapSettings.cfg file back to the map folder and your settings are restored. To minimise this from happening in future always exit the TomTom application using the Exit button from within the application, and not other means, also do not power down the PDA with the application running - Mike |

Thanks Mike,
That's useful to know, re the correct file to back up. Most annoying though as I am particular about exiting Tomtom correctly.
Thanks again. |

Hi,
My first Sat Nav was a Dell Axim X5 and TomTom (V2 I think) and I had a similar problem although it was the entire Map folder that would vanish.
After the 2nd time I came on here and asked for help (not mentioning what hardware I was using). A reply came telling me that I was using a Dell Axim and a SanDisk SD card. After checking behind the sofa to make sure nobody was watching me I asked how he knew. Apparently, although the dell was a decent PDA and the Sandisk was a decent card they just didn't get on.
Could you try the software on a different card? |

That surprises me although it would answer a few strange goings on. I have lost a few spreadsheets etc. from a sandisk memory card also.
I'll take a look at getting another SD card.
Thanks. |
