Hi. Today I have been from my house in Wimborne to Cirencester, i keyed the address in and all went well. When leaving there this afternoon I pressed home and it came up with a completely different route. I had not altered any settings. Any reasons, the timings and mileage were almost the same.

Possibly one way systems, or the number of right turns vs left etc, obviously turning right across a major road on average will take longer in time than turning left. The routing engine will use a number of factors to work out the quickest route, it is far more complex than just the two examples I give as a possible reason - Mike |

Same here a couple of times:
I went from Lancs to Arbroath & when I set off back it sent me a completely different way via back roads insted of main A roads. |

Like this one?
It doesn't do it anymore with the 6.75 mapping. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

Just because a certain route is the quickest on one direction doesn't necessarily means its going to be the quickest in the opposite direction, seems like common sense to me. |

When I went to the Expo (or rather Holiday Inn at Shepperton), the GO700 map 675 gave me a different route from the GO710 map 675 - east along M4 to M25, then 700 said get off at J13 whereas GO710 said stay on M25 a bit further. Difference of a couple of miles, couple of minutes. _________________ Dennis

The thing to ask though in each case did it get you to the correct destination and back home without going down a one way street the wrong way? or trying to take you down a public footpath? (these are worth noting and submitting to the map suppliers so we all benefit from a more accurate map in the future).
In most cases the answers to the above will be that it worked fine but might have given a different route, as I said earlier this can be down to a number of different things when it plans a route - if it gets you their to the planned destination, then its done its job - Mike |

Half hour ago I received a PM from someone who seemed genuinely upset by it. It was a joke to me, but in view of my huge dentistophobia I could understand that it would give some a real horror trip. No desire to cause real offense, so out it goes and the quest for a new one starts here. I may try Mr Happy's big woolly rabbit.

If I thought your avatar was a genuine likeness I might have!
But then I'd be old enough to be your grandmother! 8O _________________ Anita
