|
|
I have a problem copying Tom Tom Maps to my 2GB SD card, when I get to 960MB on the card, the card crashes and will not let me copy any further data to the card. I thought the card was faulty, so I bought a second 2GB card and exactly the same happens on both cards. I have tried a different computer, and still cannot load any data larger than 960MB on to it.
I am using a USB2 card reader to load the maps.
What if anything am I doing wrong?
Is the card wrong format for such a big file, should it be FAT 32?
Any suggestions.
PS Please forgive me if this is in the wrong forum _________________ Mio P550 Mio 3 TTN 6 2GB SD Card, Ipaq 5450: Integral 1Gb SD card, TTN 6, POICapture, PPC 2003 |

try formatting the sd card and then try to send the information to the sd card again. and see if that works _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Good bye IOS don't let the door hit you on the way out .

Yes on the Fat32 for future compatibility, but it may also be that your card reader doesn't support 2gb cards properly. May be worth checking if your card reader supports SD2.0 spec (SDHC) if not then invest in a new one (card reader) that states its SDHC SD v2.0 compatible.
I recently had problems with a 2gb SD card in my oldish Reader, it just wouldn't open the card at all, you could see when you inserted it into the reader, but you couldn't view its contents. After about 45 mins faffing about i spotted the tiny writing on the packaging of the SD card that said not all card readers are compatible with 2gb+ cards, doh!!! Anyway i've just ordered a new reader today funnily enough. |

Tried re-formatting the card, and using a built in card reader on my sons laptop, and still get to 960MB and the card crashes.
At my wits end with this, any other thoughts? _________________ Mio P550 Mio 3 TTN 6 2GB SD Card, Ipaq 5450: Integral 1Gb SD card, TTN 6, POICapture, PPC 2003 |

Are the maps on DVD? if so try copying the map to the hard drive of the PC then install from the PC hard drive, I have seen map installs behave poorly from disk but they then work with data on the PC - Mike |
