Been reading a while but 1st post.. This may be a daft question, but here goes... I’m think of purchasing my 1st ever sat nav and am drawn to the TT one. I was wondering, if i buy this tomorrow in the shops it will im pretty sure have the old maps installed. Would i have to then purchase the up-date maps separately, or do TT let you have these for free some how?
Told you it was a daft question, but never had a sat nav before.
Thank in advance |

It is a very valid question, someone reported yesterday in the forum that they did contact TomTom and after providing proof of purchase they could download and activate a new map on the device, I intend asking TomTom at the GPS Expo at Sandown race course in the morning if this is appicable to devices prchased after a certain date. I'm sure that this is somethjing that will be asked of TomTom at the PGPSW Show tomorrow. Watch this space for a possible answer or pop along yourself if you have the opportunity. _________________ Tim |

You're serious? A competition to see who's got the biggest bang? _________________ Dennis

No competition... That'll be me!
Seriously, it's a competition that has been running for a few years now. Teams of enthusiasts have to produce the best display (to music of their choice) using only fireworks available to the public, with no modifications or fusing and to a strict budget and time limits.
It was originally run by one of the big Pyrotechnic companies and held at a big National Trust country house in Stafford and I've been involved as a competitor for about 4 years.
After the big guys ran into insurance problems, it is now run just for fun as a private event by some of the previous entrants with all proceeds going to a cancer research charity.
This year I've escaped the stress of competing and am helping out with the fun stuff at the end.
Here's a pic of our resident vicar blessing one of the participant's from last year.
(It didn't work, it didn't survive the night! ) |

So what did they say? Did anyone think to ask them about gratis map upgrades on new units that were supplied with old maps despite being purchased after the release date of the new maps? |

My wife bought a tomtom one v4 on the 29th march 07 and I asked tomtom for an upgrade.Tomtom said that because the tomtom was puchased prior to the new map being released then I was not entitled to a free update.I have informed tomtom that if I was to take the tomtom back to the shop under the shops returns policy and then purchase a new one that the map would still be out of date.Would they then update the map.I am awaiting a response. |

Anyone? Surely someone must have asked them the question? 8O [/i] |

I had an email from TT, part of which I have posted elsewhere, which stated that they wouldn't recommend it for a 652 Map because "I would barely see the difference". Make of that what you will. _________________ Richard
