|
|
At about 7.15am (BST) today, my Mio suddenly lost the plot.
After giving a correction instruction, the map suddenly began moving in jerky motions instead of scrolling smoothly and it was showing a position anything up to 1/2 mile from where I actually was - even in the middle of fields/golf courses etc at times.
This went on for a few minutes, so I tried a hard reset - no difference :o
I checked the satellite reception and it showed a good signal from at least 6 or 7 satellites :o
Then suddenly, after about 10 minutes, it started behaving perfectly again
I travel this route on a daily basis and this is the first time I've experienced anything like this - so I know it's not a mapping or software error.
Has anybody else experienced anything similar
Have the Americans been playing with the GPS satellites |

It was a lovely sunny morning, without a cloud in the sky and on an open road without trees or buildings to interfere with satellite reception. |

My C710 with the "first" 3.2 has done that a couple of times. No idea why. It is OK when you know where you are and know it has gone bananas, but in a strange place when you need a turn instruction NOW it is a bit of a pain. :-) _________________ Mio C710 on MioMap 3.3 |

Yes, my Mio 168 with CoPilot 5 decided to throw a wobbly this morning at around 0900 leaving Wetherby to join the A1. Erratic screen as if suffering the "shakes", then it recovered it's senses about 10 minutes later. Weird! |

I'm led to believe that this phenomenon is caused by the unit overheating.
I must say that I'm NOT convinced...
...why should it act up on a mild spring morning, but behave perfectly on a hot summer's day with the sun beating down on it, or in the middle of winter when the car heater is on at full blast |
