I apreciate their will be some difficulties, and agree you cant please all of the people etc, thats why I suggest a posting for the compromise, yes you will get the upracticable as well as the practical but at least it will raise some pointers and consensus with the final decision left to the team.
I think the database should have some thought to improve before it gets too big, Because I do tnink this database could turn into the best, with credit to the team and of course the people submitting.
Just a thought |

If the team are looking for ideas as to how to reorganise the database, may I be so bold as to offer a suggestion?
There are a number of POI sub-categories which only have a small number of entries in them (e.g. River Island only contains details of 2 stores), while other sub-categories are clearly complete (or almost complete) sets of data.
The small files aren't really of much use to people in their current form - unless you happen to be in the right town! - and should perhaps be considered as works in progress until they contain more entries.
Is it worth separating out the works-in-progress from the complete data sets? I realise in some cases this would be a very subjective decision, but it would help people to identify which files are most useful to download, and also which ones need most effort to improve the data quality.
Just an idea - feel free to shoot me down in flames ... |

Im Not sure, I feel that showing some of these as a category may hopefully induce people to add to them, If they are not shown as a category then people may decide to add another category under a differing one and subsequently have two different categorys having duplicated entries, Must admit though some of the single entries mean nothing to me.
Just shows as MaFt points out there is a different side to every story. |

I too had problems making a single file from the download screen
e.g. things like fuel/accomodation lend themselves to a single file rather than individual companies
will give the POI Edit a go (thanks for this tip btw)[/quote] |
