|
|
Hi,
I've stuck the dashboard disc supplied with my Nuvi 660 in my car but, the unit wobbles a bit (not the fault of the mount - the dashboard panel is wobbly!). I've decided to go back to the windscreen mount.
I now want to remove the disc which is stuck fast with what Garmin says is 'permanent adhesive'. Any ideas on how to remove this disc without damaging the dashboard?
Cheers. |

I managed to remove one last summer when it was very hot by gently easing a knife with a thin, blunt blade under the disc. Maybe heating it with a hair dryer would have the same effect on the adhesive as the sun.
But don't blame me if you try it and it doesn't work! _________________ Anita

Unfortunately, the clue is in "permanent" - it's not designed to be removed. However, you may be able to prise it off, although this may result in the disc itself becoming damaged. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

As I understand it, it is easier to prise the car away from the disc!
As Anita says, try heat treatment and a blunt knife - worked for me when I changed cars last year. _________________ Garmin i3 gone (sold on eBay)

Hair dryer on HOT setting, apply hot air to the gap betwixt disc and dash and with a blunt knife start levering disc away. It'll come off in a jiffy. It's permanent but not that permanent! _________________ Darren Griffin |

With great difficulty — hence the DIRE WARNINGS about fitting it in the instructions. |
