|
|
Hi, i'm new to this forum
basically i have a tomtom one with version 6.560 installed
I recently downloaded the pocketgprs speed camera alerts and i placed them in the this folder named 'United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland as highlighted in the pic
and i have installed the .ogg files etc... and the .ov2 files aswell as the bmp files
i then configured the POI of interest
but when ever i do a demo on my tomtom of a route with speed cameras, it shows the icon and where the speed camera is but the sound does not play (even though i have set it on the preference)
is there something i'm doing wrong? as i have done practically everything said on the FAQs
Thanks in Advance |

Welcome to the forum, Have you been to Change Preferences/ Manage POI/ Warn When Near POI and selected each camera POI category in turn, this must be done after the the ogg files are installed otherwise the software will not know the files are in place, you should only be asked to set a distance, and if Warn Only if POI on route" when using the ogg files.
Note the Warn Only if POI on route option needs consideration as to your use of the device, if you only ever run with a route planned you can select the check box, if you want warnings without a route planned don't select the box. - Mike |

Yes i have done the above, but i think it might be because i have only done it on the show route demo
I will try it out later on a route and see if it works |

If it works on a Route Demo then it will work when out driving assuming you have a route planned, if you want to use the warnings without a route planned de-select the Warn Only If POI on Route check box for all your camera POI then you get warnings all the time - Mike |

And he isn't kidding. Driving up the M6 yesterday i was getting camera warnings what felt like every 60 seconds because it would pick up cameras next to the motorway too.
I'd recommend if you want to keep your sanity that you keep the "warn if poi is on route" box ticked, and always make sure you have a route planned even if you do know where you are going, then you'll still get the warnings when necessary, but you wont be bugged by ones that are facing the other way or ones that are a few hundred yards either side of the carriageway you are travelling down. |

Do the Route Demo test at speed of 100% or 200%, no faster. And set a route which you know goes past several cameras. _________________ Dennis
