Press and hold the reset button down for thirty seconds then see if it will behave itself - Mike |

You could also try Reset Factory Settings in Change Preferences. _________________ Richard

I had the same problem when I updated the software. The only way I could get round it was by using a different SD card even though it had worked perfectly before (a sandisk). If you have a spare give it a try. |

Maybe you're holding the power button down for too long?
Just hold down till the Suspend splash screen shows then let go. |

I had exactly the same thing happen last month after a firmware upgrade via TomTom Home. None of the suggetions from this forum worked (reset for 30 seconds, restore factory default settings, etc) and the Restore Backup function on TomTom One didn't work either. Fortunately I had an independent backup which I had made by copying the card into a folder on my desktop. I formatted the card and copied this backup and it all worked properly again.
I had cause to use the same backup folder again this evening. I had tried to use TomTom Home to create a backup prior to loading the latest PGPSW Safety camera database. Part way through, the process stalled, but I was unable to turn the device off properly from the PC. I closed TomTom Home (which was not responding) and turned off my device using the button, but it wouldn't work, in spite of trying the 30 second reset routine. Eventually I formatted the SD card again (which had evidently become corrupted when TT Home stalled) and copied my backup from the desktop - it's all fine again now

Hi,
I haven't had this problem yet but will remember for the future.
However, I have 3 SD cards:-
1. The original SD card kept in the box
2. Copy 1 - working OK
3. Copy 2 - a copy of 1 but used for updating
Whilst it is good to have backups on the PC (and I do) - I keep the spare SD with the TT in case of problems with the SD installed. But if I have any problems I immediately switch cards. When I get home - its format and copy the good one back to the formatted.
In fact my wife uses the TT1 most of the time and I don't want her getting lost.

SNAP !!! This is exactly what I do. The other thing I do is my backups on the PC are ALL done by copying with Windows Explorer (set to show all files and extensions) - I wouldn't trust TT Home backups for all the tea in China! I "allow" TT Home to autorun when I connect to PC, but minimise and use Explorer. If I didn't need Home for OS updates I'd uninstall it. _________________ Dennis

Yes, for brevity I didn't give the whole story, but I also keep the original TT card in the box for fallback if necessary. The backup I keep on the desktop is the most recent satisfactory version and has all the latest itineraries and POI warning settings, which I don't want to have to redo unnecessarily.
When things go wrong, it's a great comfort to insert the original TT card and find that it works OK - I then know that the problem is corrupt software in my copy card.

good tips... last night my One wouldn't switch off... without restarting straight away.
Restored backup, seems fine now... Funny how it's been fine for months though. |
