i asked because i want tomtom to automatically turn on bluetooth if it's off, which in my understanding the 2.09 accomplishes. though it could be tricky to not install the tomtom wizard.

i would like to try it, also the tomtom wizard, by backing up my pocketpc first but i had a problem the last time i restored. bluetooth won't startup.

What model PPC are you using? There is a free utility to make the necessary registry mod to accomplish this that has been tested on h5550, h4150, h3870, h2210 and h1940.

It works fine but be aware that using this utility may affect the way other programs access BT Serial devices which may be an issue if you have a need for this and more than one BT Serial Device.

Sorry I misunderstood you there. I don't think v2.09 will turn BT ON, what it will do is automatically connect to your BT GPS instead of having to select it in BT Manager. The link I provided achieves the same.

I'm not aware of any method to automatically turn ON BT if OFF when you launch TomTom.

Will 2.09 prevent other BT programs such as MemoryMap Navigator running on a 4155? I'm new to all of this and have just recently purchased hardware and software and regret to read this...

Say I delete the recommended file... what functionality do I lose? I have to manually launch the GPS device for each application? thanks

v2.08 and v2.09 will by default prevent other apps from accessing the BT Com Port and this includes Memory-Map.

If you follow our guide and uninstall the ~TomTomGPS entry then you will lose no functionality except if you switch off your PPC before exiting TT then you will have to soft reset.

I personally have stuck with v2.07 available from here which has none of these issues and uses the BT browser so you have to manually choose which device you want to connect to when you launch TT.

I tried everything posted here to get this to work and I never could, TomTom always held control of the com port.

I found a solution on another site and it fixed the problem for me. I am using a iPAQ 1945 w/ PPC 2003, TomTom ver 2 with GPS 2.08.

What i did was edit the registry to put the BT driver back to the PPC driver.

Here are the instructions:

1. Download a register editor (For example here)
2. Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\SerialX, were X is the BT com port for your device
3. Click in the "Value Dll" and in the button "edit button". Change the value to "BtCeIf.dll".
4. Close the editor.
5. Do a soft reset to the IPAQ.

I did this and now everything works great, I can use TomTom and OziExplorer.

Just wanting you all to know that after endless searching and mailing with TT support I finally have my iPaq4150 working with TT3 and Intelligolf7. Thanks a lot to you all

I've installed GPS2.07 and didn't have to use any registry editors nor did I had to uninstall anything (settings-remove programs)

Let the fun begin!! Thumbs Up

I have an iPAQ 4150, Fortuna Clip-On BT GPS, TomTom (GPS 3.02) and have had the problem with TT hogging the BT stack. I tried removing TomTom ~ GPS but then the main app wouldn't start and the device hung!

I am pleased to report however that the registry hack works and I am now able to run TT, Memory-map etc.

On my setup, the outbound port was COM6 so I performed the steps detailed in earlier posts and all is now OK!

Just incase anyone was counting my TomTom from Nov 03 has just died with the symptoms described above ie no longer has a blue light or perhaps just a quick blip as I am switching it on and then nothing. After spending the day switching it on and off I have had the benefit of finding this thread. The only question is what I did with those charts and maps. Crying or Very sad

Just for the record I uninstalled TomTom~GPS and installed Ver 2.07 and both TTN3 and GPS Tuner work with no problems.

I have tried 3.07 and it didn't make any difference

Great forum here, let´see if anyone could solve this:

I´m using both, TOM TOM Navigator and Ozi Explorer on my Qtek S200. The thing is when select remove programs "TOM TOM^GPS" does not appear. Only "TOM TOM Navigator" and "TOM TOM TOM TOM". I already tried selecting "TOM TOM TOM TOM" and installing version 2.06 as suggested in Ozi official website, but not worked. On Ozi, when selecting the com port, com6 -that i use on TOM TOM and works perfectly, doesn´t appear in the list.

Any suggestion??
