You might be right, when I registered and entered my i3's serial number plus the code off the yellow slip enclosed with the Garmin I was given an unlock code in MyGarmin. (Suspect it was for the original v8 mapping). I then ordered the V9 DVD and on returning to MyGarmin I found I could apply for a further unlocking code for all regions and it was the second code that unlocked the v9.02 mapping installed to my laptop. |

I haven't registered my i3 yet as I didn't get a yellow slip and can't fill the number in on the website. Does anyone know how I can get one? |

Email garmin telling them that you have bought the unit include details serial no etc and state there was no yellow slip in the box. They will send you the required number, you can then register your unit and you will be intitled to a free map upgrade to v9.Just make sure that you use todays date for purchase etc and you should be fine. |

I registered my Garmin a couple of months ago and gave the correct purchase date of Dec 05. I ordered the version 9 maps and when I applied for an unlock code it allowed me to unlock all of Europe for free. I would guess that Garmin's system is based on the date the unit is registered rather than the date bought. |

When applying for the unlock code it asks for the date of purchase, from this it determines if you are entitled to a free unlock code.
As you entered the date of registration and not the date of purchase you have fraudulently obtained a free unlock code. |

Rather harshly worded I think, since the date of purchase was long after the date when he was entitled to a free upgrade

Correct me if i am wrong but Mightyhunter said...

I also purchased my i3 in December 2005 which is long BEFORE the free upgrade entitlement period for v9 maps. |

The free entitlement period for v9 maps is September 2006 onwards...... Some 9 months AFTER Mightyhunter bought his / her i3... |

I have an i3 with memory card - 256 mbyte - and v8 maps, bought Feb 2006 so realise I would have to pay for v9 mapping - how much does this cost, and is it worth it?
I don't really use the unit all that much, I have US CN USA V8 mapping for my Florida holidays. |

I also cannot find my yellow slip with the coupon code - have been back into the box but cannot find it, and the only coupon codes I have registered on the garmin website are for my US maps
Any idea how I can find my coupon code for ordering updated maps? |
