My Basemap shows 2006.01 [060811] and United Kingdom 2006.01+ [060926].
They work fine with Miomap.exe versions 26-09-2006, 18-01-2007 and 01-03-2007. I saved all these Miomap.exe file versions on my pc just in case. |
Morkin,
Maybe my current maps are uptodate and the ones on the website are old.
Maybe also the upgrade for the maps goes to a different server too. _________________ Regards

I too also confirm that I have had to try multiple times to update my C710 to Ver 3.2, and have also had the multiple errors when updating the maps.
I continued to follow through with the map updates after each error, when I finished I compared the map sizes and found that some of the newly loaded were much smaller and also the GB map just had 2006.01 and not 2006.01+ and had reverted to 4 digit postcodes.
I'm not convinced that all the maps have updated completely or correctly but being new to the Mio range and I can't be sure.
However after much thought I have reverted my C710 back to ver 3.1 and reloaded the original maps as I'm thinking that mine being a new device the cd maps may be newer and also the barcode on the rear of the map cd cover says Jun/07/06. whilst the app barcode says Jun/05/06 but not sure if this is significant.
I hope they sort this out soon as this updating is a painful process.
USB 1.1 is sooo slow, I hope I don't regret my decision not to wait for the C520T which is usb 2.0 |

To get the latest GB map with full postcodes,
1. go to http://mooshikam.mio-tech.be/updates/miomap/maps/
2. download the file 'greatbritain7ppc.fbl'
3. on your PC, rename it to 'greatbritain.fbl'
4. copy it to your Mio using the Transfer Hack (see various threads about this)

Thanks Sal, I tried that already but similar to DeeJay01 I get the ' Some maps are out of date ' message and the RIP icon with the GB map.
I can only think that the maps I received on CD are newer or the ones downloaded via the updated are smaller but correct albeit without 7 digit postcodes.

It certainly does. I have used each version of the .exe file and each version of the .fbl and cannot reproduce that out-of-date message.
I can only think that there is a setop file on the Mio or on the PC that is not over-written when an 'upgrade' is done. The next step might be to reinstall from the original disks, AFTER deleting all the miomap files manually from the device and uninstalling from the PC.

You cannot just copy files from http://mooshikam.mio-tech.be/updates/miomap/maps/
This won't work, because Mio has build an encryption in these files.
The encryption is removed when updating through the Mio updater program. There are programs on the internet that remove this encryption, like MiomapDecode.exe. _________________ Mio C710 unlocked.

You are quite right Morkin. I downloaded the latest gb file from there at the weekend and thought that I had been using it. I've just checked and found I'm still using the previous file because I had copied the new one to the wrong folder on the Mio. Putting it in the correct place to replace the previous one gives me the same error as the others have reported. I'll get the decoder that you mentioned.
My other point stands though. The maps do work with any version 3.x of miomap.

Does anybody know if the update is 'officially' back online
I notice that the update tool now says that the C250 can be updated, whereas it previously said that the C250 could not be updated - but there is no indication as to the availability or otherwise of the update for other models |

I tried "MiomapDecode.exe" in Google and go lots of hits. Could not try a lot of the sites as internet access from work blocked the sites. Bah humbug!!! _________________ Regards,

I wouldn't bother if I were you. These links are decidedly suspicious.
1.the files are quoted as being many tens of megabytes which is far bigger than would be required for any sort of decoder program. They might contain already decoded map files, which would be illegal (see mikealder note above), or could contain any amount of malware.
2. there seems to be many different versions, which is unnecessary. Another reason to be wary.
From the nature of the sites that I saw, your company is quite right to block them.
I think it would be safer to wait until Mio fix the problem. The latest files are not very different to the old ones, so we aren't missing much.

I managed to successfully update 2 units to v3.2 (1 Mar 07) yesterday evening...
MioMap software
maps
voices
eveything updated without an even a hint of an error. :D
Better still, I was pleasantly surprised to see that when I updated the second unit the PC recognised which files it had already downloaded and simply uploaded the new files to the Mio rather than downloading the whole lot from the Mio server twice. |
