Can someone tell me how accurate the speedo will be on my Tom Tom 2/Haicom mouse setup?
I know that when cruising the speed will be accurate, but when speeding up/slowing down the speed lags bahind my 'real' speed, partly I suppose to the time intervals used by the mouse to send GPS data to the iPAQ and partly due to the accuracy level of SPS.
Am I right in thinking the above? I take it the PPS is more accurate? |

you are right. At the time of "reading" which is once a second at best for non-commercial GPS the speed accuracy is better than 0.1 km/h . In between these intervals there's no accuracy at all, just the interpolation of the client application.
What's a PPS? _________________ Lutz

I was going to ask about the speed accuracy.
This proves my speedo is out! When travelling along at a steady 100 kmh I assumed I was doing 62 mph (by calculation), however the GPS said it was 57 mph. So my speedo clock is out by about 10% |

Which is what the guidelines for speedometer readings require. i.e. a maximum indicated reading of 10% over actual speed. Under reading is not permitted for obvious reasons.
Now you can set the cruise control to GPS 70mph and overtake the traffic car sat in the inside lane whilst everyone else sits behind at 65mph thinking they are doing 70 _________________ Darren Griffin |
