During an update, my "english-British " Voice on my Nuvi 610t has become corruped, I have tried webupdater but it will not install it say s file is currupted. I have deleted file and tried webupdater and it stiill comes back with this error.
Could somebody "host" this voice so I could d-load it... That would be Great! |

I would start by running "CHKDSK" or the Windows Explorer equivalent against the Nuvi drive and make sure you've got no file-system errors.
Assuming that doesn't fix it, your easiest means of resolving the problem, is to contact Garmin and ask 'em for a replacement file. If you want to have a go at fixing it yourself, you could try some of the following (at your own risk ) :-
Copy the Nuvi drive to an SD card, or other removeable flash device and point Webupdater at it. If it succeeds, rescue the .VPM file and copy it back to the Nuvi.
There is a copy of the voice at http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=1061 but this is an executable file. To use it directly, you will need to put the Nuvi into "Garmin USB GPS" Mode, (instead of mass-storage-mode). (I don't know how to do that on a Nuvi).
Or you could download the .EXE and unzip it to extract English_British_0200.rgn. You will then have to remove the first 60 bytes and save it as a .VPM file. The resulting file was a slightly different size to the one supplied with my C510, but appears to work fine. There's a pretty decent hex editor (to remove the 60 bytes) at http://www.handshake.de/user/chmaas/delphi/download/xvi32.zip

There are things that I know and you don't know, there are things that you know that i don't know, but always remember there is much that we both don't know. |
