I sent an email a week ago as well. Nothing here either...
Maybe it's time for advertising standards...

Emailed Century FM about the lack of traffic data from the Winterhill transmitter and they never replied. Maybe somebody could phone them? |

I was at the NEC on Fri/ Sat, so I spoke to Garmin about the issue I was having - the device was tested on the stand and deemed as not working correctly so its going back to Garmin for a check up/ repair - if it works on its return all well and good, time will tell - Mike |

Northender - I've had the same lack of response from trafficmaster after over a week of waiting. I can't complain about the Nuvi 310, it's a shame the high standard of kit isn't duplicated with a workable traffic solution. That said, I believe that alternative manufacturers don't really fair any better in the UK.
Is it a case of waiting for the technology to improve? Or perhaps someone just needs to deal with the transmission issues to the satisfaction of the customers out here! _________________ _________________

I've been having terrible trouble since the 4.0 firmware in Scotland. I used to have the option of up to date local data on TMC_INFO (Classic FM frequencies - ITIS Holdings) and national data (Motorway and some A roads only) on TM_TMC (XFM Scotland - Trafficmaster).
Problem is, since the upgrade it appears TMC_INFO has been dropped from the firmware and I cant do anything about it.
I phoned Garmin (who strangely didn't take my contact details) who said they would pass on the details to their US TMC team who would apply a fix to the next firmware. They asked me to email them for a status update in a week or two if I dont see any new firmware available.
It's a bit disappointing to find the development team is only US based - perhaps one of them should fly over here and do some firmware development with real UK TMC signals available |

Just rung up Trafficmaster now & the bottom line is they don't want to know if it's third party hardware, they only directly support their own products.
When I mentioned I wanted to check if the local transmitter (Winter Hill) was working, they said I need to ring Garmin & it's up to Garmin to ask Trafficmaster whether there's a problem!!!
I can this being a long one to solve... _________________ Nuvi 310 v3.90

The link is actually on the US site under the subscribe to TMC... You can tell it the UK & ask for coverage. I wasn't 100% sure whether that was coverage of sensors or coverage of TMC broadcasts, but I raised a support call and they gave me the smae map for TMC broadcast coverage...
It's at

Shame, of course, that the map shows the theoretical best coverage using an amplified car aerial, and not the coverage offered by a GTM12/21. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

Well, it's the one Garmin quote for support problems with the GTM-21... In fact it's the only one AFAIK...
I'm sticking with my theory that if Garmin sell a unit without external aerial capabilities in this country, then they're confident that the unit will adhere to their advertised coverage maps... Which means hopefully that they'll stand by it & fix it somehow (I don't care of it's a firmware or hardware fix with a recall, but I do expect them to fix it). |

Based on the experiences of many others, the only viable solution would be for Garmin to swap them all out for GTM10s, which won't work for many people (some like the flexibility of a portable unit, some, like me, have a car where the car aerial connector isn't compatible with a GTM10).
With a few firmware tweaks, they could easily mask the problem better... _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

Except apparently the GTM-10 doesn't work with the Nuvi 660 (Someone else posted a while back). I was all set to buy a GTM-10, simply because it would have been easier (Although an extra thing to plugin every day), but it's a waste of time as only the GTM-21 works with the damn thing.
