A work of warning to you all
I started to upgrade he maps and found that even if the upgrade doesn't download the full 100% of the file it will still upload to you device.
I noticed this by checking the disc space after the whole upgrade procedure and found that I started with 997M on the device and ended up with 1307M after the device.
I will send another email to Mitac to see if they feel the updater is working correctly.
Updates follow when available _________________ Regards

David,
You download the maps directly from the URL previously published, rather than with the update procedure.

Sally,
If your talking about the files from http://www.mio-tech.be/updates/miomap/maps . Thats last time that downloaded the maps from this site using MioMap v3.1 my C710 device booted up saying "Some maps are out of date"
Couple of questions;
1. Which GB file do I download greatbritain.fbl or greatbritain7ppc.fbl? (What are both files for?)
2. As the Greek map is Greece.fbl-bak it will not be able to be downloaded. Will the old Greece.fbl file work? _________________ Regards

This goes back to original 3.2 upgrade when the full postcode search stopped working. The '7ppc' file sorted it. I'm not sure how the later upgrades reference the two files but what I have personally done is to use only the 7ppc file but renamed to greatbritain.fbl. That works properly for me.

Thanks Sal
I think that your right. I'll probably never drive to or in Greece so it is taking up valuable disk space. I'll only download the maps that will be of some use to me.
Thanks again _________________ Regards

Sally,
I have done as was requested by yourself and copied the greatbritain7ppc.fbl file to my desktop, renamed it to greatbritain.fbl and uploaded it to my C710 device.
On entry to MioMap v3.2 I get the following alert:
Some of the map files are outdated, please visit www.mio-tech.com
If I go into the SETTINGS page then ABOUT then MAPS and scroll to the bottom it shows greatbritain.fbl with a RIP next to it.
Any Ideas _________________ Regards

More info on map file properties: (Can on the disk MioMap v3.1)
Just to pick 2 files
Basemap 2006.01
NIMA VMAP0 [060518]
United Kingdom 2006.01+
Data Source 2006 Tele Atlas N.V.[060515]
All the rest have 2006.01 with the identical 2nd line to the UK file so I guess that must mean year 2006 1st quarter _________________ Regards

From that, and the map error message, I suspect your upgrade didn't work properly.
If I was in your position, what I would probably do is a full install of programs and disk from the original 3.1 disks and a fresh attempt at an update. That will take some time of course.

Sal,
This puzzles me as the C710 says I have v3.2, I also have the follow button instead of the hold button and the maps files from that link should be newer than the ones that came with my device on the disk. _________________ Regards

Only speculation of course, but the version of miomap you have may give that message for any 'wrong' version, since if it was the wrong one it would normally be an older one.

Sally,
Not sure if I have done the upgrade procedure wrong (Didn't have any trouble when I inisitally did my v3.2 upgrade - maps and all) but I spent all last night re-installing from the disks (v3.1) and upgrading.
Same results I'm afraid. multiple upgrade failed messages leading to deletions of cache file/folder and ending up with Jan 18 07 update.
maybe I missed the boat on successful updates
or
maybe something is wrong with my device :o
or
maybe I downloaded the map files from the wrong place (http://www.mio-tech.be/updates/miomap/maps )
or
maybe my 2 laptops, 1 pc, SKY DSL line and BT DSL lines are all incompatible with Mitac server.
Or maybe as I would like to thing MITAC needs to GET THEIR FINGER OUT _________________ Regards

I haven't replaced my maps. They are the ones that I downloaded last October, and I get no message that they are out of date.

'Silver Tech' newbie here, so hope I've entered the forum correctly.
Can anyone shed a light on how I 'connect' to update (speed cam synch) a 510e . I've installed/uninstalled, quadruple checked all settings (serial numbers etc), tried it on two PC's, read, re-read instructions and still either get 'not connected' message (even though the 510E opens the 'page' and shows PC 510e icons - but this does have 'X' against it) or alternatively advises a database error (or similar).
I would be most grateful if anyone can tell me which part I need to hit with a hammer (can't be much else left to try!)
Seriously, any guidance would be welcome.

@DeeJay01
My Basemap shows 2006.01 [060811] and United Kingdom 2006.01+ [060926].
They work fine with Miomap.exe versions 26-09-2006, 18-01-2007 and 01-03-2007. I saved all these Miomap.exe file versions on my pc just in case. _________________ Mio C710 unlocked.
